Stayed here for work, 30 secs from the hospital

I was in a fully self contained unit, with a nice kitchen and laundry, I rate it 9/10 only because I thought the floors could have been a bit cleaner . The bed was comfortable, there was 2 single's in the bedroom .. The bathroom was perfect. everything was really good, the linen seemed to be immaculate, and the aircon in the bedroom was quiet.. There's a pool, that looked great but I did not use it. The manager Warren, was a true gentleman, nothing was too difficult for him, he even carried my bags upstairs. I stayed 2 nights.. its a 15 minute walk to Cairns Central shops / train station or Woolworths... probably worth 9.5 out of 10 ... Thanks Warren!...

Perfect for those on the go!!

We booked this apartment as we had 5 people all needing accomodation together. I manage a dance troupe and we were looking for a clean, spacious unit that could sleep 5 people individually. This unit did not disappoint!! Well priced, Very clean, fantastic amenities, big kitchen with everything you need, comfy beds and very central to the city centre. If your looking for a base to relax and explore the city. Look no further!!

Most disappointing

First impressions were not good! Roadworks at entrance, thirty stairs to apartment (no lift), new management had begun five days before! Assistance given to carry luggage upstairs for which we were grateful. However, balcony overlooked road with constant traffic and construction noise, so was unusable at busy periods during the day. Brand new dishwasher installed, however only crockery, cutlery etc for two so not enough to warrant its use. Two saucepans, two pots (of doubtful heritage), quite insufficient for self catering. New washing machine and dryer, but no detergent supplied. When requested dishwasher powder was brought up. Not our value for money expectation.
On arrival we were shown around the apartment by management who found curtains without hooks fitted and several lights not functioning. Although promised, these were never attended to during our twelve day stay. Bed linen and bathroom towels were changed once in that time. Pool towels were $5 each if needed for our stay.
Apartment was clean and tidy on arrival but in need of major refurbishment. Barbecue was very dirty when we needed to use it, but after reporting that it was cleaned. Undercover parking was a plus, as were air conditioning and fans.
It is hoped the new management will work towards upgrading this establishment as its proximity to the Cairns Hospital would be to their benefit for business.

Not good apartments or service

Our apartment was disgustingly dirty. There was mold on the walls in both bedrooms, the fans were think with grim and dust, food still in cupboards and freezer and rubbish still behind curtains and on the floor. Our room wasn't ready until 6.30pm but the problem was the cleanliness of the room.
I sent photos and rang management about the poor condition of the room but they said they could only help by giving us a credit for another stay at the apartments. As I advised the manager we live in NZ so wouldn't be going back to Cairns anytime soon it was a one off family holiday.

Hi Pippa, thank you for leaving us your feedback. I'm so sorry to hear you did not have a comfortable stay at Central Plaza. I have spoken with housekeeping since to resolve this matter and implemented procedures so this does not happen again.
Your email regarding this matter only came three weeks after your stay. As your stay with us was a week long, there was more we could have done for you if we had been made aware of the issues at the time of your stay. We are always here to help! There is little we can do for you after your departure, however.
What you asked for actually was FOC accommodation in Sydney, which unfortunately, I could not provide for you since we are just a small family run business with one apartment complex in Cairns. Should you be in Cairns again we would love to have you and show you the high level of hospitality we strive to provide!

Great apartments, large & spacious!

A lot of the apartments are now being upgraded, and it makes a huge difference. New furniture, curtains, large flat screen TV's, all in a good location. There's free parking underground, and you can cook your own meals.
