Beautiful location, fabulous host!!

Andre is the heart of the Mai Tai Resort!!
Nothing was too much trouble and he was always happy to help with advice on tours & where to eat. We got there late on the first night and got a take away, he had set us up a table by the time we got back.
We were in the 'Poppy' room, it was so spacious with everything you could need, including a large dressing area.
The bed was large and comfy and the view from the shower was amazing.
We also had our own access to the pool area.
The continental breakfast was delicious and certainly set us up for the day.
The location is beautiful, quiet and out of the way but only a 15 minute drive into beautiful Port Douglas.
Thank you for making our stay at Port Douglas so comfortable.

A beautiful retreat and trip for the memory books! Mai Tai is amazing :)

Mai Tai is a stunning labour of love and so well thought out. As a solo girl traveling for the first time, reviews I had read about this retreat turned out to be true. Andre went above and beyond - as he does for his guests and his guidance is immaculate. He curated how I could visit the Daintree and Great Barrier reef and organized my tours for me even before I reached there. He even came to pick me up and drop me off from the airport - which was incredibly thoughtful as I wasn’t able to organize a car last minute. Mai Tai offers you a private window into Daintree’s wonders with the Australian Green Tree Frog, Olive Backed Sunbird and some spectacular orchids making home there. An art lover’s paradise, the property is curated with several pieces reflecting Balinese architecture and is rich in its forest heritage. The rooms are beautifully appointed and super comfortable, with individual sit out places, well air conditioned, with a thoughtful mini bar stacked on your arrival which can hold other groceries. The property is pristine and Andre will guide you for recommendations for dinner and lunch along with options to do your own meals, a yummy continental breakfast (there’s nothing quite like excellent coffee, rainforest fruits and a croissant fresh from the oven in the morning!). Andre is gracious to give you access to his kitchen if you need to heat your meals or wash a plate. You have total privacy, even though the rooms are close to one another, I could not hear anything the entire time. The jewel in the crown are Mai Tai’s two dogs, who are ambassadors of their hospitality and lovingly wait for you to play endless rounds of fetch with them, and a cat (whose attention you’re going to have to work harder to get!). I honestly don’t think you could replicate the joy, rest and beauty that Mai Tai will add to your trip, it feels like home and changes your experience and understanding of Port Douglas. I could have spent some days just relaxing there itself. Thank you for the most beautiful stay and experience, I hope to come back and bring my family soon! (Insider Tip: Andre has the best recommendations for paella and ice cream in town!)

MAI TAI - THE BEST

Totally loved this from the time we drove up to the entrance. Andrè was there to greet us and show us around his beautiful resort. We walked through a gorgeous Balinese double door which took us to our hibiscus room. Stunning! Balinese theme throughout but not overdone. There is a private courtyard to sit and contemplate. The shower has a large window so you can open it and feels like your showering outdoors. I understand there are also some rooms with outdoor showers.
Andrè provided us with his local knowledge which led us to Shannonvale Tropical fruit winery which was about 10mins away. We did a tasting in lovely surroundings and took some lovely wine back with us. Andrè also suggested the Australian Chocolate Farm, which is also 5 - 10mins away. We decided on the tour with tastings after. Jenny, one of the owners (her husband was busy making yummy chocolate), took us around the plantation and gave a history. The tour was very informative and the history of their starting the plantation from scratch was amazing . They went through so much but came out on top ! Getting back to The MAI TAI, there was also plenty of information in our room for tours etc and Andrè gave a few more ideas. MAI TAI - FANTASTIC place to stay and it has a lovely pool. The breakfast was healthy and plenty of it - from fruit, yoghurt, croissants, fruit bread and various other breads as well as various cereals and toppings and plunger coffee. The highlight - so many but the best was Andrè . He was there to greet us every night when we came back, asked how our evening was and then we went to our room. A very long post but didn't want to miss anything.

An unforgettable stay in the rainforest

An unforgettable stay in the rainforest
Our stay with André was truly special. We were immediately captivated by the accommodation, nestled in the heart of the rainforest and surrounded by beautiful nature and tranquility.
André is an incredibly warm and attentive host. The lovingly prepared, special breakfasts were a particular highlight—a little surprise every morning and a wonderful way to start the day. ☕️
Meeting the other guests also enriched our stay. The atmosphere was open, friendly, and relaxed, so we quickly felt like we were among friends.

Peaceful and private suite with Mountain View’s

A slice of paradise in the rainforest. Mai Tai was such an amazing place to stay. My wife and I came to explore the daintree and go to the Great Barrier Reef. Great location, close to port Douglas but also an easy drive to daintree. The owner, Andre, is incredibly kind and knowledgeable about the local area. He gave us amazing recommendations for restaurants, places to see, and which tour companies to book. The room itself was lovely, clean and quiet. Very romantic, our room had its own outside area woth chairs and a view of the jungle! You have to stay here if you find yourself near Port Douglas!
