Disappointing.

An establishment that desperately needs a refresh.
The pool was closed, and there were leaks in the hotel...
The establishment really shows its age. The furniture is not only old but also damaged by time. The most disappointing aspect was the cleanliness of the room, which frankly left much to be desired. From dust in the corners to a bathroom that could really use a thorough scrubbing, the experience did not meet my expectations.
However, I must commend the breakfast, which was a real surprise. The variety of options offered was excellent, from fresh products to hot dishes. Everything was delicious and well presented.
In summary, if you are willing to overlook the state of the room for a nice breakfast, this hotel might suit you. Otherwise, a major refresh is necessary before I can recommend it.

Under renovation, impossible to be identified from outside, due to all lights switched off and to construction scaffolding with protective sheets. Also the way to the back parking was not indicated and illuminated. The path from the rear entrance looked almost uninhabited. Very scary.
The room was very spacious but in vintage conditions, as well as the bed (even if comfortable). The bathroom was even older and really sad... The flush toilet not working...
The breakfast was good, with various options.
As final opinion: better chosing another accomodation, until they finish the renovation works...

Do NOT stay at this “Hotel”!

We just checked out of the Phoenix Hotel (Zagreb, Croatia). I don’t actually know where to start when writing about the appalling condition of this hotel & I think our tour operator & the hotel are taking the pi$$ if they believe this place to be acceptable for paying customers.
Firstly, the hotel is located around 30 minutes out of Zagreb in an area that looks depressed & with minimal access to other services. The paint is peeling off the exterior & interior of the building. There was mould in the bathrooms & on the ceiling. There is exposed electrical wiring & faulty appliances in many of the rooms, including damaged power outlets.
There is a spa/sauna mentioned by our tour operator & on the hotel website but these were not operating/broken down & looked to have been out of service for some time. The hallways were very poorly lit to the point where visibility was difficult.
When we arrived at our room we discovered that the door was wide open. It was unable to be closed. Given that the room had been cleaned the hotel staff would definitely have been aware of this. When I alerted the hotel receptionist I was told “There is no other room available!”. A clear security issue in anyones estimation.
Eventually another room was located for us at the very top of the hotel which we were given instead. It had only skylights & no air ventilation. The shower was faulty but eventually operated. The furniture was in damaged condition. Most rooms only had wine fridges.
The kitchen chef was observed outside smoking & spitting. Her apron was filthy. We didn’t stay for the included dinner as we weren’t sure of the food safety standards of the hotel & were not prepared to take the risk.
The rear of the hotel looks like a scene from a Dystopian Science Fiction film or industrial wasteland & is visible to guests on that side of the building as a view.
The “positive” reviews of the hotel are clearly written by sock puppet accounts or associates of the hotel in order to inflate their rating. The remaining reviews are scathing & an accurate reflection of this dump. The building should be condemned.

SCAMMERS!!!

I stayed at Hotel Phoenix with my school and it was honestly a complete disaster. The rooms were in awful condition, peeling leather headboards, stains all over the walls. And the audacity they had to try and charge my friends for “accidental damage” when EVERY room already looked ruined was unbelievable. It felt like they were just trying to blame us and squeeze money out of us for damage we obviously didn’t do. To make everything worse, there was absolutely no staff after 10 PM, so when my key card stopped working, I got completely locked out of my room with zero help, zero support, and zero responsibility from the hotel. The food was cold, the service was terrible, and the whole place felt like it was falling apart. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, the experience was honestly infuriating.

Terrible/Scamers

We came as a school trip and they saw an opportunity to steal the money from the students and that’s what they did. they made us pay for something that we didn’t do and falsely accuse us of doing it while disgustingly arguing with us absolutely terrible and traumatic experience.
