No password on the WiFi, easy to connect, works in the rooms.
The quietness rules of the hostel are a joke. There are signs asking to keep it down at 20–06. No one seems to follow them, even less so to enforce them, especially when there’s no staff at the reception at night. Two roommates check-in at my room at 01:30 and made really loud ready for bed, thank you very much. I heard kids running down the corridor, wouldn’t you know it. The lobby features people playing music at the same time. I never got a good sleep. The rooms are alright, but it’s strange that the bathroom didn’t come with even a cheap swooping tool, so the floor was constantly flooded. There’s no A/C or strong ventilation in the rooms, windows don’t fully open either for burglar reasons. In July, the rooms are strangely cooler during the day and are impossible to sleep in at night (at least on the upper bunk): to create any draft, the door must be open, meaning no noise isolation from the corridor with the running kids. 15 DKK for a towel is like charging for a glass of water at a restaurant: most people travel towelless and do need towels anyway. ID as a deposit for the basic kitchenware is… unusual.
Because this was the cheapest option available in Copenhagen at the time, I shouldn’t complain, but compared to other hostels I’ve been to, I find it suffers from its scale: it’s just too… industrial, where no one is really invested in making the stay of each and and every guest as comfortable as possible.

SAFETY RISK-NOT FOR FAMILIES

We booked this for a road trip pit stop for our family of 5 because of the nice pictures of kids room and it being labelled a hotel on booking.com. Hotel it is not! Be very aware it is a rough hostel, and if you stay here it is for experienced hostel users- not for families or anyone other than hardened travellers... and by that i mean it is used by vagrants off the street and as a government hostel to house families in need who were all hanging around the entrances eyeing up every new person entering the building and their stuff.
We asked for a 1st floor room and were given a ground floor. While trying to find the place I walked around all sides of the building and it was eye opening. All the children's rooms are on the ground floor and the only ventilation (given it was a heat wave) was a low window that anyone off the street could effortlessly climb in/ reach in and grab belongings or children. An absolute risk in every sense of the word! Upon realising how unsafe the situation was we tried to cancel and booking.com would not refund our money or allow a cancellation so we have to walk away and lost £170. Poor form by bookings.com given their breach of contract, but I would pay that 10 times over not to stay there. At £5 in Asia you could expect that situation, but not in Copenhagen.
What is worse is the clear deception that they are playing. One door at the back had room numbers and buzzers to let people in and out like a temporary shelter with instructions on temporary accommodation rules- I saw a number of addicts going in and out there- very worse for wear, it had broken windows, graffiti and looked liked a squat. Opposite was an actual squat. Along that side of the building were the low windows to the children's rooms. On the next side of the building was another door and set of buzzers, this door seemed to be being used by the families in need, lots of rough kids hanging around and the odd parent intently watching everyone coming in and out of the next door along- the shiny door in the pictures with the reception. I didn't think I'd make it to the entrance at that point, without being mugged. The people from all three entrances walked through the entire building and had access to all the rooms. I saw the same children running in and through reception via the side door.
The high prices of the hostel rooms and shiny veneer of that one section, surrounded by government welfare sections lead me to believe that this is clearly an orchestrated set up in partnership with local council and welfare housing- paid by unsuspecting tourists- similar to the one in the Netflix film The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel. You are paying to support the other people who desperately need shelter. I offer a serious warning to elderly visitors, and families for your own safety and security, this is not a suitable place to stay.
I attach simply screenshots from maps so you know that these are genuine reflections of the place.

You get what you pay for

We only booked this place because we had to. The sheets had holes in them. The one light is incredibly dim, and as we were on the bottom floor lower than ground, it was either "make it too dark" or "get looked down at by passersby".

We stayed one night, passing by. Apart from a smelly punkrocker sleeping by the elevator this was an ok place for us for a quick stay over.

Title: Outrageous abuse of authority! Police involved at Nørrebro branch

"I had a specific room reserved with a confirmed room number, but upon arrival, the female manager changed my room completely without any valid justification.
When I politely confronted her about this unexpected change, her response was, in my opinion, shockingly arrogant and deeply unprofessional. She directly stated to me that as a manager, she has the authority to change rooms at any time she pleases, showing zero respect for a customer's confirmed booking. Unfortunately, the entire staff seemed to mirror this hostile, dismissive attitude.
The situation became so distressing that the police had to be contacted. The police officers themselves advised me to file an official complaint against the management with The Complaints Board for Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism in Denmark, which I am currently doing. This was a clear power trip from the leadership down to the team. I strongly advise everyone to avoid a&o Copenhagen Nørrebro if you expect your booking to be honored and to be treated with basic human decency."
