Fun times at Daku Resort

We really enjoyed our time at the Daku Resort. The Oceanfront Bure was very clean and spacious and the owners and staff were very welcoming. The grounds are lovely and there is a great hike up the hills right behind the resort. Also enjoyed the views from the airy Yoga studio and using the pool. The resort location is walking distance from Savusavu town, which we enjoyed doing before dark. We also walked the other direction towards the Cousteau Resort for great snorkeling opportunity. It's right next to the Chocolate Farm, which has a great tour and fantastic chocolate only available there. We took three wonderful excursions guided by staff member Joe (snorkeling, kayak, and hot spring/waterfall). Joe was very kind and knowledgeable and took us to hidden treasures and local soap and coconut oil producers for unique souvenirs. All in all a great introduction to Fiji!

US Navy sang me ‘Happy Birthday’!!!

We had a relaxing time at Daku resort in between major diving on Taveuni and then Kadavo. It was both my birthday and Mother’s Day and the resort surprised me with a delicious cake sung in by 10 U.S. Navy personnel who took time off from their humanitarian Middle East operations to serenade me with ‘Happy Birthday, Happy Long Life' !!!! It was very sweet, indeed, and definitely made my day:)

Our stay at Daku Resort - Savusavu, Fiji was fabulous! we were fortunate to meet the owner/host during our stay. John and his wife were incredibly welcoming, helpful, and engaging in every way. We enjoyed hiking, snorkeling, tennis, massages, and a wonderful meals each evening at Daku Resort. One of the highlights was spending time with our hosts over conversation and shared meals—it made the experience feel even more special.
A word of advice: brush up on your U.S. geography trivia! They’re very knowledgeable and love a good challenge.
There’s plenty to explore within walking distance, including the small town, botanical garden, and even a chocolate factory. The resort hike is a great morning work out. Be sure to take a stroll along the paved waterfront road and stop at the local swings where both kids and adults enjoy the cool breeze.
The days were warm and humid, so the plunge pool at our villa was a perfect and refreshing treat after our daily adventures. We stayed for nearly a week and honestly could have stayed longer if our schedule had allowed.

Beautiful Savusavu, Wonderful Daku

It had been a while since our last visit to Savusavu and Daku, and it was a wonderful relief to return — this time with our children — and find it just as beautiful, relaxing, and comfortable as ever. What a treat to revisit old memories while making new ones with the kids, exploring the bustling little town of Savusavu and beyond, and returning each day to the warmth, comfort, and kindness of Daku.
The team are incredibly friendly, helpful, and responsive — nothing was ever too much to ask. From seeking out fresh coconuts for the kids, to restaurant tips, directions to the best swimming, beachcombing, and snorkelling spots, and organising trips to thermal pools, waterfalls, villages, and cafés, they made everything effortless. Kids loved the 'words of the day' lists...learning Fijian words and phrases, and practicing with the team. Worth mentioning that one of our children has slightly higher needs, and the team were flexible with menu alterations wherever they could - greatly appreciated.
All in all, they strike exactly the right balance between suggesting activities and giving us the space to make our own way.
Excellent food, beautiful grounds, a great pool for the kids (although they also love popping in the bay just across from the front gate - all got the hang of snorkelling immediately, and was great to be able to use equipment from the resort). Very comfortable beds. Aircon and ceiling fans worked brilliantly. And the new massive yoga deck is a fabulous addition - what a view!
The whole holiday was quiet, relaxing, and simple in all the best ways. Exactly what we were after. We left feeling rested and recharged. Thank you for everything, Aubrey, Joe, Joshika, Peggy, and everyone else — we’ll be back!!
