A charming taste of French rural chateau life

A delightful experience staying at the chateau for 5 nights, with a large group spread across its various gites. My smaller group of 4 stayed in Pecheurs which was ideal for us. Our charming kitchen-living-dining room had all the practicalities we needed (cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine) along with ample kitchen equipment & services, and a terrace for al fresco dining. The sizeable swimming pool was a haven in the heatwave and the views from the surrounding hills & forests were beautiful. We all loved the short walk to the village shop and easy access to gorge walks. Look forward to revisiting again some time!

Just wonderful!

This is definitely not a large corporate hotel! This is such a very, very special place; the historic tower, the gardens full of flowers and a huge fig tree, the surrounding landscape, the comfortable gites are simply beautiful/beautifully simple; rooms and gardens that would’ve inspired Cézanne, Renoir or Van Gogh to paint them. It’s like living in a French Impressionist painting! And a fabulous pool! And excellent food! What a most wonderful, unforgettable experience! Merci beaucoup Sandrine et Sebastian

Misunderstanding about accommodation

Our group stayed in Colombieres sur Orbs in June with most of us at the Chateau. We are sorry that two of our group were not happy with their accommodation at the chateau. As organisers we must bear some responsibility for a misunderstanding about the type of room allocated to them. Sandrine and Sebastian and the rest of the group did everything possible to alleviate the situation given that the chateau was very full with our rather large group. Sadly they remain dissatisfied.

Peace and tranquillity in rural France

This was a wonderful rural location in which to spend a relaxing few days with friends. The gite I shared with four others was spotlessly clean and well equipped. The cool lounge provided welcome respite from the heat. Breakfasts were delivered at the end of the day ready for the following morning, and the homemade jams were delicious! Some black tea as well as the green and Earl Grey options would have been nice (especially for English guests )

Disappointing accommodation

The Chateau nestles in wooded hills The swimming pool was perfect However our experience of the accommodation we were offered was more than disappointing We were with a large group so it was impossible just to drive on & find somewhere else We had a space, hardly a room on the landing of the old tower Some privacy was provided by a curtain No door. The space had tiny windows. Little air or light. Nowhere to hang things Camp beds The members of our group who had the en suite above had to pass through this space anytime of the day & night to get to their accommodation. I’ve rarely had worse accommodation even in my backpacking days in India & Africa. The friend I had to share with & I, are in our 80th year & ours jaws dropped when we arrived

Nous sommes très surpris et navrés de vous lire, car votre retour ne reflète pas tout à fait le déroulement de votre séjour ni les efforts que nous avons déployés pour votre confort.
​Pour rappel, lors des réservations de grands groupes, la répartition des chambres est entièrement gérée et complétée en amont par vos propres organisateurs. La pièce dans laquelle vous deviez initialement loger est très clairement spécifiée sur nos documents comme une « chambre d'appoint, idéale pour des enfants ».
​Dès votre arrivée, lorsque vous nous avez fait part de votre mécontentement concernant ce choix d'organisation interne à votre groupe, nous avons immédiatement réagi pour trouver une solution. Nous nous sommes pliés en quatre pour vous installer de vrais couchages confortables dans d'autres espaces (notre lit ancien en fer forgé du gîte le peintre avec une vraie literie et un autre canapé de salon dans le pêcheur). Vous n'avez donc jamais dormi dans la chambre d'appoint que vous critiquez ici.
​Nous regrettons que la réactivité et la flexibilité dont nous avons fait preuve, ainsi que le charme de la tour du gîte de l'Écrivain qui a ravi le reste de vos amis, n'aient pas suffi à vous satisfaire.
