THE PERNANT DOMANE – A WINNING STAY!

On the heights of the village of Pernant, the manor opens its doors on the grounds of the castle (medieval fort of the 14th century small size). In 1914, the castle is intact and inhabited. It was therefore requisitioned by the General Staffs, sometimes French and sometimes German, in particular because of the underground quarries which made it possible to protect the troops from bad weather and the enemy. It remained slightly damaged until 1917. In 1918, it was devastated, but should soon be restored.
Here we are in this magnificent mansion for a relaxing and quiet stay, before walking the next day, The Way of the Ladies!
Parking available. The welcome by the owner is very friendly. The decoration is rich in beautiful collections. Room Clotaire is well exposed and well arranged. The bedding is very comfortable, and the bathroom outside, but contiguous to the room is private, bathrobes available. The room is keyless, but the house is trusted.
A small terrace is located in the bedroom with a superb landscape.
Breakfast is served in the dining room, whose wide bays offer views of the ancient medieval castle and gardens. The breakfast is excellent and very hearty (at discretion) with high quality fresh produce.
The hosts are extremely kind and available.
A perfect address to be quiet in a beautiful environment. A world once found!

Experience staying in a Chateau. You will not be disappointed.

If you want the experience of staying in a real Chateau with all the modern conveniences this is the place. It is exceptional. Decorated to a very high standard the Chateau is adorned with antique furniture and artefacts. The owner speaks a little English and I speak a little French, so enough to make each of us understood. There is excellent WIFI but you need to ask the host for the code; best done whilst checking in as the information in the bedroom is only in French (with WIFI connected Google Translate explains everything you need to know in your language). The continental breakfast is served in the dining room at a large round table that you share with other guests and is well above average. The Chateau is highly recommended.

No locks on bedroom doors. All visitors can enter all rooms.

There are no keys on the doors. When you go for a walk, you must take your valuables and keep them with you. It's not normal to take your belongings in the trunk of your car.
Fortunately the bedding is of good quality

Charm, welcome, silence, at the top

Charming castle, friendly welcome, impeccable bedroom and bathroom with tasteful furniture. Elaborate breakfast. Huge, secure parking. Perfect address to experience calm and rest. The contact with the owner was wonderful.

Charming.

Charming chateau, run by a warm, friendly older couple, with plenty of experience. They were extremely helpful, particularly when booking a restaurant for us. On Sunday evening, when the restaurants are closed, we bought a picnic to have in the lovely garden, but Madame would have none of it: she insisted we use the dining room, and laid it out beautifully for us. We nicknamed her ‘Maman’, which pleased her. Her husband has the twinkliest eyes, and smiled constantly. They also have the creakiest stairs in France!
It’s only 20 mins drive from Pierrefonds, and a little further to the war monument/museum in Compiegne, which is really worth a visit. The Compiegne forest is beautiful for walks.
