Wonderful hospitality

Hotel Mount Shiga was the perfect place to stay for our skiing holiday.
The staff are simply superb with the extra touches - my husband and I were driven to view the Snow Monkey Park, have the best Japanese lunch at a nearby Restaurant and a guided tour of the very ancient town of Shibu. Thank you for sharing your fascinating culture with us. The onsen at the Hotel was very warming and relaxing each afternoon after skiing.
The Hotel is very clean and the Japanese buffet breakfast has a large array of food to suit every taste.
A special thankyou for all the kindness and help that the staff showed us when I had a terrible skiing accident and we had to unfortunately cut our holiday short.

Simply the Best

Linda and I spent 6 nights at the Mount Shiga Hotel. We could not have chosen a better place to stay during our Shiga skiing experience.
The Front desk staff, Room cleaning staff and Dining room staff were always warm, friendly and helpful. The food is to die for ( the best) and we will always stay when we return in the future.

Pure Excellence

As in my title for review I state pure excellence. This is my 11th time of visiting Japan and my 6 th time in a skiing resort.
There is nothing I can fault with this hotel. From the moment I arrived for TWO WEEKS, I was met at front desk by a helpful and kind gent who took my basic details for registration. As dinner was currently being served I was requested to go for dinner.
I was feeling rather fatigued from my long travel from England, I was hungry but tired and I went for dinner, or should I say personal banquet. I did my best to eat as much as I could and vowed that I would polish off my dinner the next day after skiing.
I have managed to do this only once and that was with great difficulty. The food here is much more than I could hope to expect. Every night a feast lay before me, served by a lady who could have been my mother. So nice and cheerful she was, even though it was always a struggle not to leave anything.
Every morning another feast at breakfast time fit for a king and a struggle to eat.... I was still full from the night before.
The staff at mealtimes enjoy their work and do their very best to make your meal enjoyable. Do not worry if you can't eat all your meal like myself, I think the staff get pleasure in seeing you leave the table full to bursting point.
All rooms are warm and comfortable, some Western style and some Japanese style with futons ecceteraa. Every room has Japanese tea making facilities but hot thermos is available any time of day if you want to bring your own beverage. Western style rooms have bath tub and shower with as much hot water as you need. Alternatively there is 'onsen' or geothermal natural hot spring bath, great for soaking tired or stiff muscelles after skiing.
Beer or Japanese Sake is available to purchase at meal times. Be careful, the beer is brewed locally in Yudanaka and bottled for the hotel. Take my word as a 'real ale' drinker, the beers are tasty and strong. As for skiing, equipment can be hired directly from hotel , skiis and boots. The local ski resort is only about 200 metres away . The main bus stop in Ichinose is about 200 Meyers from the hotel.
I have also had great personal service from man at front desk, for example, free visit to 'monkey park' in Yudanaka in hotel vehicle.
Also visit to Shiga beer brewery. My memories of this hotel will last forever. I hope you will visit this hotel for a great skiing or walking holiday ,you will not be disappointed . The next time I come to shiga kogen for skiing I will stay at this hotel. Maybe I will have Japanese wife with me also. Enjoy your holiday here like me.

Ski Holiday

We stayed at Hotel Mt Shiga for 9 nights.
Inchonese is a very quiet ski village/ not many shops and very quiet at night . Good access to ski lifts/ bus stop and restaurants
.
Hotel Mt Shiga is a traditional Japanese style hotel. We stayed in room 401. For a family of four it had plenty of space-2 single beds and traditional floor bedding for 2 / private bathroom ( shower and bath ) separate toilet and plenty of room for ski gear / shoes / boots etc
There is an onsen downstairs and many of the rooms do not have bath / shower facilities
The thing that really stood out for us was the hospitality. The manager / owner ( Ishi i ) really looked after us
He had good English and nothing was too much trouble.
On the first night when we were tired and hungry he drive us to a local restutaunt and picked us up when we were done
He drove us to the snow monkeys and for great sushi nearby -a tiny little place that we wouldn't have found on our own-beautiful fresh sushi made before us-a nice change from food in the ski village.
He gave us an Aus / Japan adaptor to use / wine glasses / washing powder/
There was a big snowstorm on our last morning -he drove us the short distance to the bus stop -so we could sit in his car and wait in the warmth! Great Hospitality.
Breakfast was included. It was traditional Japanese fare-so if you don't love Japanese food for breakfast it would be worth taking some food with you from Nagano -as not much available in inchonese.
Would definitely stay at this hotel again

Very pleasant stay

We arrived late at 9 on 22 February and stayed for 6 nights. Very grateful for hotel staff still serving us dinner which should have ended before 8pm. We stayed in room 401, an extraordinary spacious room for my family of four. It has two single beds and tatami area which alone can sleep 4 people. Very large bathroom in Japanese standard and a living room with large sofa. That gave us plenty of space as we spend lot of time in room after skiing. Scenery is spectacular outside window and balcony. Not many guests in hotel so we can privatized the public bath. All rooms are not facing road so it's wonderfuly quiet. Hotel manager can speak English and showcased the true meaning of Japanese hospitality. Grateful for his drive to snow monkey park and bus stop on day we left. Not too crazy about food though. It would be perfect if room could be cleaned more often . Overall speaking, very pleasant experience and will like to come again. The room is highly recommended for family with kids. There are many hotels in ichinose but not many with this room type.
