With the Ala you can’t go wrong...

We stayed four nights at the ALA and it turned out to be a great choice, also as a base for day trips to Osaka and even Kobe.
Hotels in Kyoto tend to be a bit pricier than in Osaka, but in our view there’s simply more to see in Kyoto, so staying here made perfect sense.
The room had the most distinctly Japanese style of our entire trip, yet still felt modern and tastefully designed. Interestingly, the bed was a bit firmer than elsewhere, though still comfortable. Space-wise, it worked well for us, and everything was spotless.
The location is another strong point, being close to Kyoto Station, which made things much easier with luggage. It also meant excellent access to all the train lines we needed to get around.
Breakfast was good, with a wide selection including Western options, though the setup felt a bit like a large cafeteria. By 7:00 a.m., it was already quite busy.
The staff and service were consistently friendly and attentive. There are plenty of washing machines, separated by gender. In practice, however, many women seemed to use the machines in the men’s area closer to the elevators, which meant there was usually one free in the women’s section. Evenings tended to be busier overall.
There’s also an onsen, which we really enjoyed. It’s modern, extremely clean, and most popular in the evenings.
We would book it again without hesitation.

Prime location

Beautiful hotel just a few minutes from the train station. Nice rooms, a large breakfast buffet, and several washing machines and dryers for self-service laundry.

Thanks for sending my luggage to my room, the room is comfortable for staying and enjoy the traditional Japanese style bedroom. Hopefully can visit again in my next Kyoto trip. Thank you so much.

Great location, super clean, and the Onsen was amazing after walking miles each day. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a very nice hotel in a great location. Easy access to the train station and public transit . The staff are exceptional and the hotel is clean and well appointed. The only disappointment were the laundry facilities, hold use an upgrade. Would recommend this hotel.
