Friendly owners

We went to Togakushi out of season and it was pretty much deserted. We wanted to do some walks. We were the only people staying at the hostel and the couple that run the place are very helpful and kind. As no restaurants were open a couple of nights we were there, and they weren't cooking the owner let us use a little mobile cooking unit to make some pasta. The first night we were able to eat at the soba noodle restaurant on the corner of the same street. Our room had a heater and was of tradition layout with futons to sleep on. There is a small onsen (bath) which was old, but very nice to have as it was so cold. The walk to the upper shrine was completely sensational, we were lucky enough to have snow that day.

Lovely family run, great hostel option

Such a lovely welcome by the hostess she was so warm and they quickly set me up in the hostel room. As a friday night I had the place to myself. A really nice feeling of staying in a very japanese hostel. Futons in the dorm room, japanese sento style wash room. Its a large building and the dinner which I paid for was delicious and very japanese. Would definitely recommend!

歴史を感じる建物をきちんと手入れした宿

古い日本家屋の宿ですので、建物にかなり歴史を感じます。2020年は茅葺屋根の葺き替え中なので外観が防音ネット張りでしたが、葺き替えたら素晴らしい建物になると思います。お部屋や廊下、トイレやお風呂などは年季を感じますが、できる限り丁寧に手入れをしていると思います。夕食はご主人の手作りの素朴なお料理でした。

明け方から騒音で眠れず

築１５０年という歴史ある建物。国民宿舎というのは知っていましたが、ユースホステルも兼ねていて登山客が団体で泊まっていました。到着した午後６時には１６人程のその団体が自室で大騒ぎ。女将の「夜９時には眠って静かになりますから」という言葉通り、午後９時には話し声等の大声は収まりました。しかし！明け方の午前４時前からその団体の連中の話し声、絶え間ない廊下を行き来する物音やドアを開け閉めする音、騒音が凄く、目が覚めてしまい、以後眠れませんでした。これは想定外の苦しみでした！予約時には事前に登山客の団体が同宿でないかそうか、確認してからの予約を強くお勧めします。構造上、仕方ないのですが、階段が急で足腰に問題のある人、高年齢の方には危険で辛いです。宿屋の場所が真ん前を通っても、わからない位で、迷います。料理は美味しく、お風呂もよかったです。あとカードを使用可能とありますが、女将は現金払いを強く要請？してきますので、ご注意下さい。また行くかと問われたら、私は行きません。

一人でも安く泊まれます

レンタカーを借りて、着いたのが8時過ぎでした。
長野駅からナビ設定すると、カーブの多い道です。
丁度、最終バスがいたので良かった。
駐車場も、初めてなら分かりにくいので注意が必要です。明るい内なら問題は有りません。
昔の旅館の佇まい。
凄くクラシック。こういう所が好きな人は堪りません。
お風呂もヘルストーンでものすごく温まる。こじんまりです。
タオルはレンタルで200円ちょいでした。でも、安いから仕方ない。
朝ごはんは、品数が少ないとか書いてありましたが、丁度良いですよ。
どれも、丁寧に作られていて「美味しー」と心から思いました。
昨今のビジネスホテルと一緒にしてはダメです。
それと比べては失礼です。
しんけいしつな人はダメですね。
とても、ぐっすり眠れました。
