The hotel is super suitable for those who who aim for running away from modernization. And enjoy a peaceful moment of your own. Do remember you have to make reservations so that the staff will prepare dinner for you otherwise you need to drive a few miles to search for food elsewhere. The facilities are a bit aged but at least it doesn’t bother us from enjoying the stay.

It was my first time to eat dinner over a hearth

This is a hideaway-like inn located in a place where you wouldn't expect to find an inn like this. Eating meals around the hearth made me feel like a hunter. The slippery, clean water is mysterious and amazing. There is no explanation of the food, but you are free to do as you like, so it is a relaxing inn. It is deep in the mountains, so there are bugs, and there is no Wi-Fi. It is a wooden building, so voices from below echo quite a bit. I understand that people get excited when traveling, but if you cannot keep things in moderation, you should not stay here. This is an inn that should only be stayed by people who can relax and enjoy a quiet time.

人里離れた山中の秘境温泉

愛媛県の中でも結構な秘境温泉ですね。国道からナビを頼りに来ると、いきなり鳥居をくぐることを迫られるのでびっくりしますが、そこが入り口です。鳥居からさらに山道を1.2Kmくらい進むと現れる昔ながらの建物がここ。う～ん、かなりの歴史感が漂っています。大正時代に建てられたらしく100年以上が経過しており、かなりいい感じですね。温泉は湯舟一つで、こじんまり感が際立っています。大きな温泉を期待してはだめです。食事は部屋食と囲炉裏端が選べるので、今回は外国人と一緒なので囲炉裏を選択。田舎の野趣あふれた料理に舌鼓。部屋も昔ながら、すべてが昔ながらなので、静寂と歴史観を味わいたい方にお勧めですね。

かなりいい

千と千尋の神隠し的な、風格ある温泉でした。感動しまくりです。ちょうどご飯時で、温かいいい匂いがしていて、泊まれなかったことを残念に思いました。温泉はかなり上質。透明のきれいなお湯なのに、ツルツルしていたから、子供らも大はしゃぎで顔を洗っていました。女風呂は熱かったのですが、男風呂はぬるかったらしいので、その時々で違うのかもしれません。

四国の歴史宿

こちらは全国に100件程度しかない「登録有形文化財」の宿のひとつ。歴史のある宿（建物）に泊まりたい方におすすめです。
関東方面からだとかなり行きづらい場所にではありますが、四国に行くなら、近くには「重要伝統的建造物群保存地区」である内子町もあり、こちらとあわせて行くのが良いかと思います。ちなみにこの保存地区は全国に120件程度しかなく、その中でも内子は、歴史ある建物があるだけでなく、目障りなものが少なく、とても美しい街並みであるのが特徴です。
登録有形文化財の宿といってもいろいろなパターンがあるのですが、こちらは気軽に泊まれる、家族経営（たぶん）の温かく親切な（といってもさりげなく）優しい宿です。風呂は露天ではないですが、窓が大きく開けられるので開放感はあり、なかなか良い雰囲気。宿泊客ではないと思われる方がちょこちょこ入っていたような気がします。食事はごく家庭的なもので、宿泊料金と相応の良いものでした。
