This hostel is conveniently located near Lake Towada. It can be easily accessed from the JR bus station. There is a convenience store at about 100 meters of distance from the hostel. The building is a bit outdated and the facilities look old. But please remember that this is a hostel and is affordable. The staff are extremely polite and welcoming. They have a big heart and serve with their full sincerity. When I reached the hostel early, there was nobody at the front desk, but there was a note for me with my room details. Later at night, When I mentioned that I do not eat meat, and I will manage with only rice, the lady, Ms. Tomoko quickly prepared fish without even thinking twice and asked me to pay very little. Even the next day she prepared cold noodles along with rice and charged extremely less. The point here is not the money but her big heart in serving without thinking about money or profit. I highly recommend this hostel purely by considering at the generosity and sweet, politeness of the staff there.
This hostel is conveniently located even to walk along Oirase gorge. Easier to stay here and take bus to either to the northern end - Yakeyama or the southern, lake side end Nenokuchi and walk along the gorge and return back to the hostel. This way the trip becomes affordable and easier.

Great and quiet hostel in the beautiful countryside. There is an onsen 2 minutes walk down the road which is well worth a visit.

Super cute little hostel, though I’m sure it’d be way better in the summertime! We came in what was off-season (early April), so we basically had the place to ourselves. It was quiet, and very cold, and a lot of the businesses in the area weren’t quite open at regular hours yet, but we still enjoyed our time!
It is a little far from any cities, so accessibility is slightly difficult without a car (there is one or two buses a day? or every other day I believe?), but we managed to rent a car and get around to other parts of Aomori easily enough.
The staff were lovely. Ready to help us during their opening hours. Breakfast was provided and while small, is always appreciated as a traveller! They offer the areas specialty dish for dinner at a very affordable cost as well, we didn’t get the chance to try it but it always looked good when we’d walk by!
There is a lovely onsen hotel right down the road that is very affordable, and, while simple, is essentially all you need for some relaxing.

I really enjoyed my stay here, breakfast and dinner were nice and the place is very sociable and friendly. Staff are helpful.

Accommodation in Japan ~ Lake Towada Backpacking Hostel

At the time of booking, there was only one backpacker hotel left in Lake Towada with a two- or three-person room. The other hotels were full, so I had no choice but to stay for one night. However, this is the cheapest accommodation in the entire trip, costing less than 150 yuan per person.
Location: It’s about ten minutes’ walk from Lake Towada. Next to it is the Towagandaso Hotel, and there is only one convenience store nearby.
Service: Apart from check-in, they basically only introduced that the shared kitchen and space are divided into upper floors for women and upper floors for men.
Room: Triple room + breakfast HKD280
Advantages: The environment at the entrance and nearby is beautiful and quiet, with red leaves and tall cedar trees; the public space and even the kitchen are very spacious, and the public bathrooms are clean. However, we went to the hot spring hotel next door to soak in the hot springs for only JPY500, but You need to bring your own towels. The room is spacious and clean, but there are some dust and stains on the details or sheets.
Disadvantages: There are few sockets in the room, the door has to be locked with force, the toilet is dimly lit, and some equipment is old. The floor makes noise when you walk on it and the sound insulation is not good.
️Breakfast: only square buns, boiled eggs and jam, drinks only milk and coffee, not much more at this price. It was possible to pay JPY1300 for dinner, but we found out too late and missed it. It is recommended to make a reservation for dinner as nearby restaurants close at 3pm.
