Convenient, Safe - Would stay again

Stayed for 2 nights in September. First time ever staying at a hostel, as a solo female (introverted) traveler I felt very safe here. The door to Granville Street is locked so you have to use your key to get in, the front desk staff are there 24 hrs.
Used the daytime luggage storage, there was some irregularity with how each staff member approached this, every staff member needs to be verifying the ownership of the bag to make this more secure.
Stayed on the first floor, there were 6 private toilet stalls with small sinks and then 2 rooms at either end with sinks and 3 enclosed shower stalls each. Never had a problem finding an open toilet/shower. I found everything quite clean!
The rooms are all locked, so you use your key to get in. The bunkbeds are pretty comfortable and there is a heavy curtain to pull across which I really appreciated. There was also an A/C machine which I set to the lowest temp as it was quite warm and stuffy in the room.
I was in an 8 bed mixed dorm, I felt super safe and comfortable! Be aware that everything (bunkbeds, luggage storage under bed) are metal so there is lots of clanging sounds when people are coming in/out.
Both days around 6am, doors start opening/closing and it's a bit jarring, you can hear suitcases rolling on the floor above you. I typically wear sleep headphones and still had trouble getting back to sleep. People were super good about not turning on the main light until after 10ish (when you're on the top bunk there's nothing above you, so it's super bright).
The door to the room isn't a soft close situation so if you're beside the door expect to get woken up since you can't pull shut the door quietly from the outside because of the locking mechanism.
Overall, I was really pleased with the hostel and will be back again!
If it's your first hostel stay, it's a comfortable experience but it's not the same relaxation level as having a private hotel room to yourself.
2nd stay in November, my room faced Granville street & it was quite loud all night. The window didn't shut all the way.
Tips: bring something to have all your toiletries/bathroom stuff in - something that can hang, even an extra hook. The countertops in the bathrooms are often wet, there is a tiny ledge in the shower area, so it needs to be able to hang on a hook

Staff ( especially Beth and Sandra ) were great!
It was wonderful to have a nice breakfast of protein, vegetables, and bread. It was nice to have a free tour done by Sandra to see some of the city. Beth helped us get Uber ride set up the night before for early early morning. The staff is very servant oriented. The only complaint I have is that they push the gay agenda really hard, with signage all over the buildingand that’s not appealing to many people.

Horrid customer service

The incredible inflexibility from front desk and the manager/owner. I have used my visa debit everywhere I have gone in the world, and yet here in my own province I'm DENIED check-in because it was not expressly stated I *could not* use cash/debit/visa debit. How was I to expect my visa debit to not be treated like a visa like in 99% of purchase experiences? (They quote me BDC policies I'd already read) I can't expect others to know of my disability, but to now be 1) refused to talk with a manger on the phone and 2) get hung up on by front desk, means I'm being persecuted without being heard first. Yes, if you don't spell it out I can't magically make my brain understand like most people can if they "try hard".
The amount of stress this caused me not only that day but in the week following has been unreal, because I then needed to immediately figure out a way to not be homeless on a low budget but then also try to repeatedly contact these absolute doorknobs to try and to be reasonable with them. Unfortunately this has not happened, and at this point the emotional duress is worth a lot more than the $87 I should be getting refunded.
Basically, extremely uncooperative in person and on the phone. I would have liked to leave a review of how my issue was promptly and reasonably dealt with - leaving a better review in other words - but they've gone and made that impossible. Don't waste your time or money here.

It is clearly stated on booking.com and all other websites that each guest is required to present a valid ID and credit card in their name at check in. You were not able to produce a valid card. We also do not tolerate rude or aggressive behaviour towards staff. Therefore, you were asked to leave our property.

Overnight stay. Clean facility. Free breakfast. Walkable neighbourhood. If you're a light sleeper, might not be the best. Can hear people walking around building pretty clearly and there's street noise. For those of us who can sleep through most noise, I highly recommend.

Super clean, great staff, good vibes, good sleep, breakfast, convenient location. Pretty much the perfect hostel.
