Great views and lots of birds

The gardens around the restaurant are lovely - and full of birds. The coati mundi stole some of the bananas - and that was fun to watch. We got a lift a bit higher up and walked from there, We walked through the fig garden and beyond. While we did not reach the waterfall there was plenty to see on the way. A lovely pond with a bridge and more. We had lunch at the restaurant and I had the salmon with a caper sauce with rice and veg. The chocolate pie with a delightful tree with a cream decoration was so tasty. Service was very friendly. Overall we spent almost 5 hours here.

A Special Gem in the Rainforest

Beautiful lodge at edge of Cloud Forest with excellent birding, gorgeous gardens and delightful staff. We stayed at a river cabin with a window to the rainforest and the sound of the river at night. The food was great and location perfect for hiking and enjoying beautiful gardens with wild orchids. At breakfast and cocktail hour, we spotted a multitude of tanagers and other colorful birds. We hiked to Salto waterfall (moderate difficulty) and hired a private guide Oscar through the Lodge who was amazing and deeply knowledgeable about birds, plants and fauna - we spotted many exotic birds including the Collored Trogon. Loved our stay! We’ll be back!

Like in paradise

A sooo beautiful resort. The bungalow, nature reserve and restaurant just a dream. I felt like I was in paradise.

The birds are amazing!!

What an excellent hotel, the food is very good and there's a decent bar.
The hotel room is nice, actually better than nice for this type of hotel, my only slightly negative is the size of the bed.
What really makes this hotel though is the bird life you can see whilst relaxing, plus the mountain hikes.

Amazing service and food

We chose the Talamanca Nature Reserve for its proximity to Cerro Chirripo, which my husband was hiking, because it would allow me to experience the park without the intensity of Cerro Chirripo itself. Upon arrival, we were informed that the room we had originally booked had sprung a leak due to heavy rainfall, and we were upgraded to a garden cabin, with free breakfast.
It was outside of peak season and, other than occasional day visitors, we essentially had the whole nature reserve to ourselves the whole time. The onsite restaurant is open from 7am-7pm, which can be a bit inconvenient for supper but staff were happy to pack a box for my husband, for when he returned from hiking. Food is excellent, far better than the descriptions in the menu would let you believe. Based on other reviews, I tried the chocolate pie, which was as good as everyone else described. I would also urge anyone to try the gallo pinto for breakfast - it was the best version we had throughout our trip in Costa Rica.
The cabin was spacious and cozy. No air conditioning, but a good fan was provided, with good hot water for the shower, and an outside sink to wash off the mud from shoes.
Multiple hiking trails were washed out from the rain, but hiking was still good. The trails are more streneous than you might expect, so hiking poles are recommended.
