It became my home away from home and the staff - my extended family!

As a former tour manager leading US tourists to Cuba, I have stayed in this casa particular on numerous occasions as it was our company's primary venue for lodging in Havana. The staff are always welcoming, caring, infinitely patient, and truly want your stay to be memorable for all the right reasons.
Operating a B&B in Cuba isn't for the faint of heart. Securing enough food and beverages or soap and shampoo, negotiating the shortages of electricity, finding committed staff, ice trays, etc...everything needed to run such an establishment is either hard to find, expensive to buy, or simply not available. El Encanto de Perserverancia somehow pulls its operation off with aplomb.
Conveniently located, it is within walking distance of the renovated historic center of Habana and near to the Vedado neighborhood. Just a couple of blocks from the malecon, you feel immersed in the daily lives of ordinary Cubans. There is an elementary school across the street and few things are more adorable than watching parents walking their children to school all adorned with their uniforms.
The neighborhood is dark at night but good luck trying to find one in Habana that isn't. This neighborhood is safe. If you see a group of young men hanging out, chances are they will be playing a game of checkers.
Perseverancia has a great rooftop terrace. Grab yourself a cigar, order a mojito from the bartender and look over the rooftops of this complicated city.

Just An Ok Casa Particular

This hotel is beautiful and located in Central Havana. It is within walking distance of the Malecon - seawall - in a "real" neighborhood. Don't let the appearance fool you - it looks rough but it was very quiet at night and the neighbors seem to look out for the foreign guests. The hotel hosts are semi-friendly (more language barrier than anything) but try to accomodate your needs; they are fairly pleasant. The breakfast was delicious. There is a mini-mart across the street but not much else near by. The best bet is to walk to the seawall and eat at restaurants near by. It's actually not a far walk to Old Havana. My room didn't have toilet tissue and you will need to bring that but it did have shower gel. I think they forgot to stock it. There is decent internet that works in the lobby area and the television has apps and gets a few local channels over air. Overall, a mid-grade hotel in Central Havana.

Truly enjoyable

We stayed here as part of our Friendly Planet tour. Our visit was amazing! Everyone here was friendly, knowledgeable and outgoing. The Casa sparkled. Breakfast was included and enjoyable. One tip, if stairs are an issue, request a first floor room on booking.

Charming place with great service and location.

A charming inn in a good location. The service was above and beyond. Good breakfast with eggs to order and a variety of food.
It is in a restored home that is full of lovely details. The staff was amazing.
Close to a number of restaurants. 3 short blocks to the Malacon. Would stay again in a minute.

Friendly People and Comfortable atmosphere

Friendly people that give you a truer Cuban experience than in a big business hotel. Some of the nicest people I've met in my travels. All in a beautiful building with a wonderful and diverse free breakfast. The rooms were nicely appointed and comfortable.
