Missed stay and communication
I was unable to stay due to travel organization problems. I premise that I am aware that the cancellation window had expired, but I tried to contact the property to request cancellation, both through Booking and through their direct email. I never received any response whatsoever, despite having tried several times and 20 days in advance of the scheduled arrival. I find this very unprofessional, because I would have certainly understood a reiteration of the cancellation policy, but not responding at all to various attempts at communication is not something I consider acceptable.

Excellent friendly and good.
Very friendly people.
Speak Dutch, so easy.
Very clean, both the rooms and the dining area, sitting area and garden.
Excellent location and very quiet.
Breakfast was delicious and more than enough.
The car is also safe and at the front door.

Lovely stay
We had a very good stay here for 2 nights. The place is run by a dutch couple. The building is a typical, lovely south German "house''. It is big but still has a nice and cosy living room feeling. Personnel and owners are very friendly and helpful. Because we staid 2 nights we received the Hochschwarzwald cart, it entitles you, among other things, a free ride with the cable car to the top of the Feldberg which is on a 10 minute drive with the car. The hotel has a beautiful surrounding and huge garden. From the garden you can see the top of the Feldberg.
The rooms are really modern, not old fashioned as much hotel in the area. Bed was okay. Badroom was small but had everything we needed including a fine shower.
COVID measures were properly observed, especially with the breakfast. No buffet but when checking in we received a list with everything available. You have to highlight what you want and they make sure it is served at the time slot you want breakfast. There is a reserved table per room, very efficient!
There is also a self service bar at the hotel which works really well. Which such a nice garden and view a cold beer was perfect!
A small downside, walking to the good restaurants in Feldberg is too far. You have to take the car (5 minute drive).

Nice place to stay with welcoming host, suitable to get to for hikers
Location was walking distance from the train station. It is in a nice location for exploring that part of the high black forest near excellent trails but also on a bus route so we were able to get to Totnau Wasserfal by bus and explore that area as well as walking in Feldberg. The breakfast was excellent with a wide range of choices to suit all. Very pleasant host. There was also a self service bar which you could avail of in the evening, although we went to some establishments nearby for dinner and drinks rather than staying in.
