Finding what’s needed

It is the small things that matter.
Needing to do some work but finding the only chair in my room was low and comfortable for reading rather than upright and good for desk work I went to speak to the front desk. The receptionist immediately found me a more appropriate chair from one of their function rooms and let me take it upstairs. Not even a hesitation to do so. Great service

Time travel in Heilbronn

The Insel Hotel enjoys a wonderful location, situated quite literally on an island formed by two canals connected to the Neckar River. The setting is peaceful and charming, and it is undoubtedly the hotel's greatest asset.
I have somewhat mixed feelings about my stay. The hotel dates from the 1960s, and much of the interior seems to have remained there. The décor is strikingly idiosyncratic—so much so that it almost becomes fascinating. If Scandinavian design is known for its timeless elegance, this feels like a journey into a very different chapter of postwar German interior design. It is so unusual that, in a curious way, it becomes memorable.
Overall, I had a pleasant stay. The room was comfortable, the location is excellent, and everything worked as expected. At the same time, the hotel never quite felt special.
One final point: when I checked out, I was given only a printed paper invoice rather than an electronic receipt. In an age when most business travelers expect digital documentation, this felt rather old-fashioned—fitting, perhaps, with the hotel's overall sense of stepping back in time.

Gym and pool very good, friendly reception very good that there is a gym and a hot tub and a friendly recipe

Friendly and good

Very nice experience, friendly staff , nice rooms , easy parking , good breakfast... from my point of view you could make much more of this gem on the Neckar .

We will definitely come back.

I really liked the island hotel. The rooms are quiet, cosy and offer a beautiful view of the Neckar. I particularly liked the swimming pool where we were alone most of the time. The hotel also convinces in terms of cuisine with very good food and an attentive, warm Service. Overall an all-round successful stay. Highly recommended.
