Nice place but only mediocre.

We have been to the Scheelehof frequently and have always been very satisfied. Unfortunately, service and quality have declined sharply. Unmotivated staff, mediocre breakfast and restaurant. Too bad!

We have been guests at the Romantikhotel for years and were always satisfied. Unfortunately, the quality has declined since the change of management. For example, the coffee machine did not work several times during breakfast time. And the selection at the breakfast buffet is much and significantly smaller than before the change of operator. The staff is also no longer as service-oriented. Unfortunately, we were not greeted with a "Good morning" at breakfast, but only asked for our room number. Furthermore, the service staff did not see that the used dishes were piling up on the table and could be cleared away. In addition, the coffee roastery (I always bought several packages there) is unfortunately still closed. Conclusion for us: Looking for another hotel for our next stay in Stralsund.

Rooms cleaned every 3 days

The rooms are only cleaned every three days and the towels changed the same way. Not dramatic in itself, but when you call yourself a romantic and four-star "superior" hotel, saving money on staff like this to increase your margin, it immediately feels less romantic I find.
Otherwise, beautiful hotel well located and beautiful rooms. But a little "chilled" by this service not up to what the hotel wants to display.

A nice little hotel, but the breakfast was a joke.
Several guest where just standing around wondering where the food was.
Could hardly present bread and cheese.

Service deficiencies, in need of cleaning and renovation

It is a masterfully renovated historical building ensemble in the center of the World Heritage city. Completely crooked, creaking floors, poor sound insulation and long waits for warm water are priced in and quickly warped. However, the rooms are already somewhat in need of renovation.
The windows have not been cleaned for quite some time (2011?), so a view is hardly possible. After all, the windows are open and the street is quiet. Unfortunately, the air conditioning is automated and not sufficiently controlled by the guest, in October the room was completely overheated for unknown reasons. The fact that the insolvent operating company at prices above 200 EUR (junior suite) trickily also saves on room cleaning is simply bold. In the booking process and at check in this is diligently not mentioned, the guest later finds a note in the room that would only be cleaned every 3 days.
There also seems to be no money for urgently needed new towels.
A bright spot is the very good breakfast with eggs to order and at least there friendly staff.
