Simple but very affordable. Everything you need

Who turned the clock, is it really that late already? Yes, that's it, my dears, we're done with Paul for today. No, we're only just getting started. The name of the hotel with its cafe and restaurant refers to our favorite pink panther, Paulchen. Furthermore, you somehow belong to "Der Burg", a large restaurant complex nearby. And you can also feel a certain influence of a large Austrian beverage manufacturer. But that is said to happen more often in this area (rumor has it). The hotel is in the middle of the city, surrounded by shops and restaurants. The reception is in the café on the first floor. Downstairs on the ground floor there is only the elevator.
Here I meet a real heroine of work. Just running the café, allocating the rooms, and helping us to set up the bikes without losing our nerve is quite an achievement. The bikes can, as I said, be set up safely. However, the battery has to be removed to charge them. The rooms are then on the second and third floors. I rate a single room here for €59 (Oct. 2023) including breakfast. Even if Knittelfeld is not exactly a tourist stronghold (apart from a few highly-bred racing cars circling the nearby race track), I think that's rather cheap for a city hotel.
The wooden furniture still looks quite new. There are hardly any signs of occupancy. There is no safe or room folder, but there is a minibar (empty). You have to live with the sound of the cooling system. The lamps and lights all work. There is also a luggage rack, TV and a small closet. The bed is OK, the mattress doesn't creak. The room is darkened with blinds. If the curtains were wide enough it would be even better. WiFi is free, but I forgot to ask for the password. The carpet in the room is pleasant and soft.
The big shock comes in the bathroom. At first glance everything looks freshly tiled. But then, in the shower. Large mold stains on the tiles. I try to carefully scrape them off. When I realize that the tiles only have a pattern similar to mold, I realize my mistake. A shower bath is provided. The shower head is moderately calcified, but it heats up quickly and maintains the temperature. The shower is not completely sealed, but the water leakage is minimal. Neither I nor my companion managed to turn on the extractor fan. I think it's just decoration. Otherwise there's nothing to complain about in the bathroom.
The breakfast is small but fine. Scrambled eggs or fried eggs are served fresh. The juices are in packs on ice. The selection isn't particularly large, but it's reasonable for the price. If you need it, you just have to ask. For example, I couldn't find any honey. The café is already well-filled in the morning. Apparently the "normal" breakfast options are also well-received. Check-out is also in the café. Afterwards a friendly lady accompanied us to the bikes (since they are in another building she has to go with us) and waited patiently while I tried to reinstall my battery using language that is not entirely suitable for young people.
Conclusion: Yes, it can be a bit hectic in the café and customer contact is brief. But what can you do when people are queuing up? There are minor points of criticism in the room, bathroom and breakfast. But if you take the low price into account, I think (just under) 5/5 is appropriate.

Ok for one night

Stopped over for one night at Paul's Hotel in Knittelfeld. Old and average kept hotel.
Room ok - breakfast good and not least reasonably priced.
Less suitable for longer stay but quite acceptable for one night

Hokiday

If your a smoker stay here - the rooms smell of stake cigarettes even though it's a 'non smoking room ' the restaurant allows smoking at the tables and I would never choose to stay here again - the lift is old and the bathrooms need a good renovation

Big rooms but average quality

I stayed here for a few nights, although I really enjoyed it there are some things that could be improved. When I stayed here I was impressed by the space you get, two large separate bedrooms, one large living room, a kitchen and a bathroom. I could run a marathon in there!
The finishing and overall quality left to be desired though, missing light bulbs, half painted walls, electricity not finished it was half done.
But like said I enjoyed it none the less, and it was fairly cheap as well!

Zeer onvriendelijke bediening, zelfs brutaal

Zeer onvriendelijke bediening, zelfs brutaal.!!!! Ook tegen collega.
Dit hebben we nog nooit ergens meegemaakt. Ze was ook chagrijnig tegen een collega. De schnitzel was daarbij matig maar niks mis mee.
