Fantastic hotel! Would return ☺️

We as a family of four had a fantastic week stay in this hotel! We only wish it was longer. We arrived late on the first night after the dinner service had finished and the lovely young lady at reception Elena (forgive me if that isn’t the correct spelling) had saved us all a plate of food and kept it warm for us. She told us to go up to our room and get sorted and come when we were ready, that was a great start to the holiday and a sign of how well the staff treated their guests! We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite at the back of the hotel and its location was perfect! Quiet and serene with a beautiful view of a mountain. There is a kettle and some mugs in your room should you wish to have your own hot drinks. There is also a small fridge which was great for keeping drinks and chocolate cold! Room service came daily and when I asked for extra towels and toilet roll one day at reception, we were then given them every time by house keeping. That attention to detail carried throughout our stay. The hotel is in a perfect location, it is right near the main strip of eucalyptus street with all of the shops, bars and restaurants, literally come out of the front of the hotel, turn left and it’s all at your feet within a minute but it was never loud or overwhelming at the hotel. There are also some smaller shops to the right when you exit and a car rental, all within meters. The beach is a 5 minute walk and there are also other beaches all within walking distance. The location couldn’t have been more perfect. We enjoyed every single meal that was served at the hotel, there was always something for everyone. They did have the same foods a few times BUT there was new dishes added in every night and 3 themed nights during our week stay (Mexican, Asian & Greek). I quite liked that things were repeated as to me it meant that nothing was going to waste and I think that is a good thing in this day and age. Puddings were usually quite varied (I dream of the honey baklava - it was SO good!). Ice cream available whenever you wanted it. The gentleman in the restaurant I believe his name is Gentis (apologies again for any incorrect spelling) was fantastic! Very attentive. You sit down, he would come and fill your water glass up immediately and be round to top it up once he noticed it had gone down. He would ask if you like any other drinks and again if he saw they’d gone down he’d automatically bring you another one. He was truly fantastic and couldn’t do enough for you. Next, we move on to the bar, all staff were fantastic once again but Nikos was our favourite haha he was always so happy and funny and just a pleasure to be around and a credit to the hotel. My son must have drunk his body weight in Tutti Frutti mocktails and no matter how many times he went up to the bar Nikos was still friendly. Every single member of staff was so cheerful, friendly and helpful. Housekeeping would always say good morning to us when walking past with a smile. There was 3 nights of entertainment across the week we stayed (Greek dancing, circus & a singer) all were really enjoyed and I felt that was enough, we don’t need entertainment every night, some nights it’s nice just to enjoy the music from the bar and relax, maybe a game of uno with the family. Not to be negative now as I loved my stay but I have a couple of small things that aren’t complaints but maybe constructive, the sun loungers - I know it happens in every hotel abroad but people would come and put their towels on them after breakfast and then not return to them until the afternoon. This meant not being able to get a lounger sometimes and it was a little frustrating to sit watching these loungers empty all day but not being able to use them as somebody had ‘claimed them’. I do not feel it should be any of the staff members jobs to police this as they have stuff to do BUT maybe a sign in multiple languages with a picture with a cross on it or something to state NOT to claim sun loungers unless they would be there to occupy them. At the stairs in reception there is a sign is that you aren’t allowed to take food or drink back to the rooms from the hotel - this I completely understand due to breakages, pests, ants and people likely leaving the rooms full of crockery which the housekeepers then have to tidy when they are busy enough. However, being able to take a drink back to the room would have been nice sometimes, even if it was in the plastic cups. We purchased large bottles from the supermarket and it worked fine but sometimes a nice drink would have been enjoyed in comfort. I absolutely cannot fault this hotel and would be back tomorrow if we had the time and money. I wish we could come back next year but more awaits. Every member of our family had a great time and miss the hotel and the staff immensely. I encourage you to try this hotel if you are thinking about it. It was always clean, the staff are fantastic, the food and drink were lovely and the location spot on. Thank you Kolymbia Sun for a fantastic holiday! ☺️

Summer Family Holiday Honest Review

Just returned from staying at Kolymbia Sun Hotel for 10 days. This holiday was a change from our original holiday that was booked for somewhere else. Due to unforseen circumstances that holiday was cancelled and Kolymbia Sun was the alternative.
We arrived on the evening of the 13th July. Due to a slight flight delay (10 minutes) then the transfer from the airport (30 minutes) to the hotel by the time we got there the evening meal had finished and there was no alternative option for late check ins to eat. On previous holidays when we have arrived late the hotel had arranged sandwiches, water and fruit for late check ins but this wasn't offered at the Kolumbia Sun unfortunately.
The hotel was a small hotel with only 2 floors which was nice. We stayed in room 120. We travelled as a family of 3. 2 adults and our son who is 15. On arrival to the room it was an ok size and fitted our family of 3 with no issues. On entering the room the bathroom was to the right. There was a shower, sink and toilet. The sink was quite close to the door when opening and closing but it wasn't a problem. The bathroom had a hair dryer which was suitable and did the job. Opposite the bathroom was the storage area. It had an open type area to hang clothes and a door which covered 4 drawers and some shelves. On the shelf was a free safe. The area to hang clothes only had about 10 hangers which wasn't enough so had to make use of the drawers and shelves. The room had a fridge, a kettle, a TV and ample plug sockets. The hotel DOES NOT provide tea, coffee, milk or sugar we bought these items in the local supermarket. The room had amazing air conditioning which is constantly on and doesn't require a key card to keep it on which was very welcomed in the Greek July Sun.
We had a balcony type area which overlooked an unkempt piece of land that had trees and sporadic/uneven dry mud/grass. This was cut once during our stay. Due to being on the ground floor we had lots of lizards, cockroaches and ants. None of these came in to the hotel room though they stayed outside. Not sure if my husband detered them away when he was sitting out there. We tried our best to get rid of the ants but there were lots of nests in the unkempt land outside of our room.
The rooms were cleaned daily by the maids who provided clean sheets and towels etc. The cleaners do an absolute fantastic job and are a credit to the hotel. The cleaners do their best to try and get rid of the ants but there are so many of them. I suggest taking a little bottle of ant killer in your cases to keep on top of them as I couldn't find anything in the supermarket.
The food was pretty repetitive and not ideal for fussy eaters. My husband ate spaghetti bolognaise everyday for tea which was not ideal but the hotel tends to caters for other nationalities we found. I enjoyed the meat, rice and Greek salads for my evening meals. Breakfast and tea was served inside the hotel and lunch was served on a grill outside by the pool. This consisted of chicken, pasta, pizzas, salads. All meals had vegetarian options too. They also had a snack bar by the pool between 4 and 5 which served chicken gyros. The pool area also offered unlimited ice cream and cones which you can help yourself to.
The pool area was clean and had plenty of sunloungers. We went down at different times of the day and always managed to get 3 loungers together. There was a toilet by the pool which could have been cleaned more often. I used this once and chose not to use it again. If you know you know.
The bar area opened at 10am and stayed open till around 11pm. The bar staff were friendly and were observed to work long hours. They were always happy and polite on interaction. The bar was free apart from iced coffee and mojitos think they were around €2 each.
The bar area was clean and tidy however due to the high volume of people helping themselves to ice cream there was often spillages which again attracted large volumes of ants. We would often find them crawling on us. This isn't the hotels fault but it was a nightmare at times.
The hotel offers minimal evening entertainment during our 10 days there was entertainment for 3/4 nights at a push. There were 2 females who were employed for the kids club/evening entertainment. The children's entertainment again was hit and miss. It would often start at 19.30 when the kids were still inside eating so the guests that were outside following tea were left watching the 2 girls dancing on their own often to one song before finishing for the evening.
There was no poolside entertainment during the day like water aerobics etc. Kids were observed to run around the pool making their own entertainment often falling over. I would like to say it was organised chaos at times but it wasn't haha.
My opinion on this hotel is mixed really. Even though my son is 15 on previous holidays we have always enjoyed the evening entertainment and unfortunately this hotel was really lacking in this department. Considering the price we paid for this holiday there were nights we went back upstairs because we were bored. For families that save all year for an all inclusive holiday they shouldn't have to spend extra money outside of the hotel looking for entertainment and other things to do.
If you are looking for a child friendly hotel I would struggle to say this is one unfortunately. Sadly I wouldn't return to this hotel this is purely because of the lack of entertainment.

Wonderful hospitality

Just got back from this hotel & it didn't disappoint!
The staff in all areas were very friendly & helpful, especially at the bar ☺️
The food was of very good quality, yes a bit repetitive but it is a small hotel. We managed to have a good meal, lunch and breakfast every day.
The bathrooms are a bit dated and could do with renovating...we were in room 123 but that is the only minus in our stay.
The pool was lovely, never had to try to find a sunbed whatever time we needed in the morning..always found 3 together.

Kolymbia holiday

Well where do we start…
Pros:
Staff fabulous
Food excellent
Pool clean
Bar - good selection of drinks and cocktails
Room swept and bins emptied every day
Room has safe and fridge - no charge
Cons
Bathroom very small
Wi-Fi intermittent
We came for our 40th Anniversary and we’re not disappointed. Room is basic, but it is Greece you are holidaying in, not Spain, etc.
The manager Manolis is just a gem as is Julian who cover the desk at night. All the staff are worth their weight in gold. We have travelled around Greece for 30+ years and the staff here are by far the best.
We went to their sister hotel Kolymbia Bay for our Anniversary meal and we were not disappointed by the way we were treated or the first class a-la-carte food! Manolis arranged for the Manage Michael (his brother) to collect us and leave us back, which was a lovely thought. We were shown to a lovely table. For our Anniversary we received complementary wine and a beautiful dessert cake.
Highly, highly recommend going over to the Bay for a meal.
At the Sun breakfast is from 6.30-9.30. Plenty of selection and as much as you can eat of cereal, fresh fruit, fry, bread, cake, etc.
Lunch is by the pool from 12.30-2.30. BBQ chicken, port, fish, salad, bread and dessert.
Evening meal is 6.30-8pm. Evening meal starts by sitting at your selected table. The waitress will then come to take your drink order and give you your soup starter (different soup each evening and all lovely). You then go up for your main, dessert etc. there are themed evenings, Chinese, Greek, Mexican, etc.
Please do not read too much into the food reviews saying it is all the same… if you pile your plate up every evening, you will run out of selections by the end of your first week!!!!
We went to the beach a few days, port beach beds are lovely and cost €20. Turning left out of the betel, crossing the road and walking straight down to wrecked ship beach (left hand side) cost €12.50 and €10 (walking past €12.50 beds). Kolymbia beach cost €
Turning left out of the hotel and left again brings you to the busy shopping street of Kolymbia. Transfer from airport is relatively short and beaches and resort is clean.
Why not give it a go!!!!!! You won’t be disappointed, especially if you love Greece, the Greek people and Greek food. We’ll definitely will be back.

Wonderful hotel and staff

Returned last night from a week’s holiday at the Kolymbia Sun and felt compelled to reassure holidaymakers that this is a delightful hotel. I had read several bad reviews about the hotel and was slightly anxious beforehand.
We arrived late evening and were greeted by an extremely helpful receptionist who suggested that we go straight into dinner first and the check in formalities could be completed after we had eaten. As a vegetarian, I was delighted to see that the options were plentiful and clearly marked. The waitresses work extremely hard but are always helpful and smiling.
The hotel itself is clean and, although our room was not spacious, it was adequate for a week’s stay. The WiFi was not brilliant but we got used to it! We are not pool people but the closest sandy beach was only a few minutes’ walk away and had a wonderful beach bar with extremely comfortable sun loungers for 10 euros per day.
Entertainment was ok and the evening of Greek dancing was fun with a lot of audience participation.
Overall this is a delightful little 3 star hotel, which would undoubtedly benefit from modernisation in certain areas, but nevertheless I have no hesitation in recommending a visit!
