We came hoping to feel celebrated, and unfortunately, we did not. I would welcome the opportunity to return and experience an improved experience.

Beautiful Hotel on the Harbor
Overall, I had a wonderful stay and would rate the hotel 4 out of 5 stars. There were several truly exceptional aspects of our experience that made this a memorable mother-daughter trip, along with a few service inconsistencies that kept it from being a perfect stay.
We booked through American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts and were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a beautiful Light Suite with a balcony. The suite was spacious and thoughtfully designed, with a separate bedroom, living room, two full bathrooms, and a balcony overlooking the harbor. It gave my daughter and me the perfect balance of spending time together while each having our own space.
The bed was very comfortable, and overall the suite was a wonderful place to relax. One thing future guests should be aware of is that, because the room has a balcony, some outside noise from other guests can carry into the room. The city noise itself did not bother me, but I was woken up by neighbors using their balconies and closing doors during the night. This is not necessarily a hotel issue, but it is something to consider if you are a light sleeper or specifically choose a balcony room.
The highlight of our stay was the personalized hospitality. Before our arrival, the hotel asked about the reason for our visit. I shared that I hadn’t been able to spend much time with my daughter since she graduated from high school, that I was incredibly proud of her graduating summa cum laude, and that she would soon be leaving to study aeronautical engineering at Embry-Riddle.
When we arrived, we found a handwritten welcome note from the Regional Vice President/General Manager congratulating her and wishing her success at Embry-Riddle, along with macarons waiting in the suite. It was an incredibly thoughtful gesture that made both of us feel genuinely welcomed and turned what was already a special trip into something even more meaningful.
The Fine Hotels + Resorts breakfast benefit was also excellent. The daily breakfast credit was generous and easily covered breakfast for both of us, even with room service, making it possible to enjoy breakfast in our suite without worrying about exceeding the allowance. The breakfasts were satisfying and filling, and the complimentary in-room coffee was good enough that ordering coffee separately wasn’t necessary.
Where the experience fell short was in a few operational details.
One evening, the attendant delivering my daughter’s requested pillows and setting up the sofa bed appeared to be having a difficult day. After accidentally tripping over my shoes, he seemed visibly frustrated and continued talking to himself while preparing the room. It wasn’t a major issue, but it felt out of character with the otherwise polished service we experienced throughout the hotel.
Pool service was the most inconsistent aspect of the stay. Servers were visible around the pool, but when we wanted to order food or drinks, it was often difficult to get service. On more than one occasion, I left the pool and later returned, choosing a different chair or section, and still wasn’t approached to see if I wanted to order anything. Only once did I eventually choose to sit at the pool bar specifically so I could receive service. Compared with other luxury hotels I’ve visited, where attendants regularly check on guests throughout their time at the pool, this was the one area where the service did not meet my expectations.
I also think the arrival experience could be improved by providing clearer information about parking. Receiving a parking citation was ultimately our responsibility, but a brief explanation of the parking process or any restrictions during check-in could have helped prevent the confusion.
The food was generally very good, especially breakfast, but I was disappointed by the crab dishes. On one day, I ordered the crab cakes from the pool bar and found them to have a mushy texture despite containing generous lumps of real crab meat. The following morning, I ordered the crab omelet for breakfast and noticed the same texture in the crab. In addition, the tomatoes overpowered the crab, making its flavor difficult to appreciate. Given that this is Baltimore, I expected the crab dishes to be a highlight of the culinary experience.
Despite these critiques, this was an outstanding stay overall. The suite was beautiful, the location was excellent, and the personalized touches created memories that my daughter and I will both remember for a long time. The hotel excelled at making our visit feel meaningful, and I would happily return. While there were a few areas where execution could be improved, the genuine hospitality and thoughtfulness shown throughout our stay made this an experience we’ll always remember.
