Located in Dana Point on a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean, this resort offers 2 restaurants and 5 bars/lounges, in room dining, 3 swimming pools including a children’s pool, a championship golf course and an on-site spa and blow dry bar.

Exceptional from start to finish.
From the front desk, to the pool staff, the beach club, the amenities, and the spa, everything was truly exceptional.
It started with Eric, at the front desk who was just so pleasant checking me in, offering me a diamond member upgrade, to the 7th (top floor) and showing me how to get to my room.
Paul, at the beach club, was so helpful. He helped me get my chair and towel set up, and helped me find beach yoga. (It wasn’t immediately obvious to me as it was a very small group and the time changed) I also did a coastal walk, and had a lovely time at the spa. I spent several hours there and had both the facial and the massage. This is my 7th Waldorf location and it was just as magical as all of the others!
This is a side note about the location- Dana point harbor is completely under construction, and there really isn’t anything there to see or do there (July 2026) I was disappointed but (honestly you really don’t have to leave and I couldn’t wait to go back to the hotel!) My uber driver suggested Laguna beach or Newport Beach both which was good for shopping and walking. The lantern district of Dana point is also nice and there’s a free trolley on the main road outside of the Waldorf that will take you there. Truly pizza was very good but you need a reservation! When I was at the Waldorf I did not need reservations for AVEO (i ate breakfast and dinner) and also the pool bar has great service (and quesadillas!)

Wonderful memories created
Eric greeted me warmly when I walked into the lobby. He made sure I got a room with 2 queen beds and guided me through the lobby to show me how to get to my room. It was my first time at the Waldorf Astoria and he made my stay memorable. The room was very clean, spacious and the balcony view was dreamy. I love the Aesop bath products and now buy them for daily use. The wait staff, risotto, and ambience at the Aveo Table and Bar were perfect. My niece loved the kid’s marinara dish so much, she licked the sauce from the plate. lol. Her eyes crossed when she drank the non alcoholic horchata drink. I appreciate the pool side seat setup as I was able to relax and keep an eye on my niece while enjoying the beautiful ocean and sunset views. For someone who can’t travel far or much due to disabilities, I really want to thank you for making this place disability friendly. My niece kept saying everyone is so nice here compared to her experience at previous bougie hotel in Maui. The pistachio latte is delicious and the young man who took my order was really nice despite the long line. Thank you to all the staff at Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach for your warmth and hard work.

Work trip with plus one tagging along
Hello Andrew Kwon and staff,
I wanted to tell you how amazed we were staying at One Monarch Beach Resort - Waldorf Astoria. Chellie and I had the most memorable time. Chellie was there on a work trip and I was tagging along. We will never forget how Chellie shared with you how delicious the donuts were at a reception... and then when we got back to our room...WOW!!!! we had a plate of them... sitting there. You went above and beyond. Thank you.
There were other staff members that did an excellent job as well and helped us out during our stay. Robert was the waiter when you spoke to us. He was great. James (I don't know if he is a valet or a manager in the front) was always there to help. He circulated in the front area. I think he realized that I was a plus one and continued to check in on me to make sure that I was taken care of. The weight room was excellent. All the people there were friendly.

Another great visit to the Monarch!
We love visiting the Monarch! It’s such a beautiful property and the staff is so friendly.

Paradise found.
This was my first time staying at a Waldorf Astoria. The Monarch Beach Resort & Club lived up to and exceeded their reputation as a world class resort. From the moment I arrived until the day I left, every employee I encountered was friendly and eager to help with whatever needs I had. I was there for a wedding that had multiple events scheduled over several days. All the venues, decorations were superb and the staff did an amazing job keeping the events on time and running smoothly. My room was spacious, luxurious & extremely clean. The rooms were quiet and I never heard my neighbors. There were so many areas to explore and activities for every age group. My favorite was the mini bus that took you to the beach. I need to mention one staff member that went above and beyond without my knowledge. I was hoping to buy a hat with a certain logo and they were sold out. 20 minutes later an employee found me and produced a limited edition hat that was far superior than what I wanted. I tried to tip him for his service and he politely refused. He humbly informed me that his name was Daniel and he was the hotel manager. The Waldorf Astoria is lucky to have Daniel. He clearly knows everything happening in the hotel down to the smallest details. My only complaint would have to be this has ruined me for staying at any other hotel in the future.
