The Sydney is perfectly located in downtown Edgartown, but on a side street so it’s not noisy. The hotel is well decorated. The outside spaces are great. The breakfast is delicious. But the best part are the just-baked chocolate chip cookies that are put out at 3 pm!

The breakfast is billed as “continental,” but it includes hard-boiled eggs, prosciutto, cherry tomatoes and two kinds of cheese, as well as fruit, croissants and muffins. If, like me, you have to stay on business, fresh coffee is available around the clock. If, like me, you haven’t been to Martha’s Vineyard since the 1980s, staff is friendly and knowledgeable about where to go and how long it will take to get there.

Wonderful Boutique Hotel

I'm not sure how I found The Sydney but boy am I glad that I did. My daughter and I went to Martha's Vineyard for a quick trip and we absolutely LOVED our stay. We were able to check in early and our room was wonderful. The breakfast was out of this world. The selection was great and the coffee was good. We enjoyed the warm cookies in the afternoon when we can make to rest from our travels during the day. I would highly recommend staying here and I will definitely be back.

The Sydney was a very quaint and nice B&B, convenient to everything in Edgartown, walk to restaurants, stores, etc. The staff, in particular Angela and Alex were friendly and so helpful to us learning about the island, places to see, etc. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast as well and the afternoon chocolate chip cookies. :) I would definitely recommend the Sydney as a place to stay on Martha's Vineyard, especially if looking in Edgartown. Lovely inn, and lovely island to visit and explore.

We got no communication before checkin which caused a panic attack midnight before arrival when I realized I got no confirmation from the place of my imminent arrival. Not top notch imo.
The person at the desk was efficient but not pleasant.
The breakfast part of bed and breakfast was lacking. Just the continental basics.
Plus was distance to everything. And the place was lovely from the outside. (Interior lacked the character and charm I would have appreciated in a former whaling captain’s home- it was modern/sleek and cold imo)
Wont return.
