Black Swan does B&B swimmingly

The Black Swan Inn offers pleasant accommodations, with nicely furnished shared areas and guest rooms. The dining room is at once impressive and intimate, a wonderful place to start your day, especially because breakfast there is well prepared and satisfying. You won't leave the table hungry.
From the rocking chair in the parlor, if you look through the stand of trees just right, you can see a bit of the Winnipesaukee River which runs behind the Inn.
There are porches on two sides of the Inn, which provide comfortable outdoor space for reading and lounging.
The property is just off the main road, so during the day it is not unusual to hear traffic; however, come nightfall, traffic diminishes and becomes imperceptible.
We stayed in the Belle Peabody room, which is a large room with stained glass windows and an en suite bathroom. The window AC runs with a quiet, sleep inducing hum. The mattress is comfortable.
The Onion Pub is minutes away and is convenient for pub food, especially onion rings. The entrees are middling. For economical food options, check out the very nearby town of Franklin. For upscale, try the Dining Room restaurant at the Lake Estate at Winnisquam; the seafood chowder is excellent.
White Lake State Park is not far from the Inn and should not be missed. The view of the White Mountains from the White Lake swimming beach is fantastic. It's a great place to set up your folding chair in the shade of a tree and study the mountains behind the lake. There is a trail around the perimeter of the lake, parts of which can be muddy or a few inches under water - take appropriate footwear for this trail.
Not far from the park, on the road with the driving range, is a spot across the road - not far from the driving range and old railroad tracks - where you can see Mount Washington.

Beautiful Inn. The whole place was very clean. The staff was friendly. Breakfast was delicious! The bed was very comfortable. The only area there could use improvement was in the bathroom. The old cast iron tub was there, but it looked like it hadn't been used in a long time. All the plumbing was pulled off of it and couldn't be used. The shower was dated. It would have been nice to use the large old cast iron tub... Other then that, it was a great stay.

Great find. Close to many local attractions. Antique lover’s dream. Super hosts and a great breakfast!!

This is a charming B&B. I really enjoyed my stay there. The staff made me feel like I had come home. The breakfast was delicious, the location is almost right downtown, but far enough away to feel like you’re isolated.
Definitely going there again.
