Not what he had come to expect
We had some serious issues ,such as old sweat stained pillows,which when we complained were replaced with equally bad ones.
But fortunately the owners partner was as disgusted as we were and ordered new ones for all their room.
The food at dinner time is over priced and the breakfast was a problem in getting properly cooked boiled eggs,which they eventually got right.
The pool and gardens are excellent and could not be faulted.
The staff were nice but lacked basic training,but they should not be blamed.
The old saying does “was that there are no bad soldiers, only bad officers “and this I think this applies to the good karma villa.
The owners parter asked us as fellow hoteliers to send her our thoughts and ideas for improvement because I,m sure she wanted to address the issues.
We therefore sent her our feedback and hope that things like TV and small fridges and added to the rooms.
There was no information at all,so we did,nt know breakfast time or when our room was to be cleaned.
In fact when we saw the room cleaner who comes in later in the day ,we asked him why our room had not been cleaner.?
He said you must leave your key at reception before you go out.
But we were never informed of this arranged.
There were many observations and issues which we sent to the owners partner.
Finally we did strip the bed when we checkout and discovered that there was a mattress cover, but it was very badly stained.
I will say no more about our stay and we were glad to leave.
We hope they will take on board our comments as the resort does have potential.

Perfect
The rooms were spacious, spotless and comfortable with lots of storage which we didnt find in other places in Sri Lanka, as people often only stay a couple of nights.
Air-con was great and included in the price, as was the in room safe.
The grounds were the most beautiful we have stayed in. All well maintained including a small spice garden! The trees and spices around the garden are all labelled which is lovely. The pool is beautiful and a welcome break from the blazing sun at the beach, it's nice to have the choice of both. There is a free tuk tuk to the beach and they will collect at an agreed time if you wish.
Snoop, the villas family dog is a 1year old dalmatian and is amazing!
We also hired Anu as our driver on both our stays and he was great. Punctual, knowledgeable and good fun! This meant Bentota could be a nice base for day trips to the south coast. We also did the turtle release and Pinnawalla elephant sanctuary with him. The van is so comfortable and the air con is much needed on long journeys.
The food was the best we ate in the whole of Sri Lanka. Breakfast is a leisurely 3 courses with coffee or tea. All fresh and made to order. The evening meals were wonderful and well priced. We had 3 courses each evening and the flavours and variation was great.
We we so sad to leave as you are made to feel part of the family. We will definitely be back in future and would highly recommend.
