Good stay with excellent dinner

Our room was freshly decorated, as are the communal rooms. Nicely done. Comfortable bed and lovely pillows. Very friendly staff. I thought dinner was outstanding. Overall I would recommend staying here.

Quick break

This place is a good find, the service is fast and friendly. The room was spacious and well laid out. The shower was a touch small. The food was of a high quality and plentiful. Newly refurbished but areas are still being worked upon. Despite being high season it wasnt very busy.

Well worth going out of way to visit for some great food !

Having recently opened again as a hotel with restaurant we were quite excited to go and see what it was like and whilst looking at the large varied menu whilst enjoying a drink in the porch seated area, I was found spoilt for choice and mouth watering just reading, I chose the pie of the day which was steak and ale served with a buttery mash gravy and greens and as a pie fan i must say it truly delivered in both taste and quality. My wife had a lamb curry with pilau rice and I had a taste of that and it was such a great flavour with tasty lamb throughout (she rated it as one of the best curries she had ever had). Our other guest with us had another of the curries which one I can't remember but they too said it was one of the best they had ever tasted. We were brought water to the table which was plentiful and iced. We could not fault the meal ,service with both chef and front of house guy having time for a conversation or the decor and seating, we were pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail throughout and will aim to go back in the future. Thanks guys !

Disappointed service and meal size.

First time eating in the restaurant, so booked a table for 3. Restaurant lovely decor and ambiance, however only 2 waiters, who covered bar and booking rooms in. Had drinks and ordered but then had to wait an hour before it came. Very hit and miss delivery to table, had to ask for plates and the parts missing from our meal. The smokie large meal we ordered was definitely not large and not worth £52. Ribs were just bones. Both men went home hungry. However the rest of the meal was very tasty and up to standard at its sister the Okeover Arms. Unfortunately getting more drinks was out of the question as the poor waiters were running around everywhere trying to keep up and therefore forgot.
On a service point we were very disappointed and with the size of one of the meals.

Lovely Sunday Lunch and friendly staff

Had Sunday Lunch here today. Food was well presented, freshly cooked and tasted superb. Staff really friendly. We will return.
