Perfect B&B with exceptional breakfast

If I were asked by Michelin to name a B&B for its breakfast, I'd recommend the Craggan. Their egg royale is a variety of salmon worthy of a king. Who happens to be a neighbour when in Balmoral.

Superb stay!

Great location for visiting Balmoral, Ballater and Braemar.
A beautiful country house with exceptional high-quality furnishings in the very large, comfortable guest rooms and breakfast room.
Wonderful views and peaceful surroundings.
We were made to feel very welcome by Louise and Martyn.
The breakfast menu was extensive with good quality, fresh ingredients. The homemade cakes were delicious!
Highly recommended.

luxurious & cozy stay at craggan

How do I even begin to describe the amazing time we (my mom and I) had at Craggan B&B with Martyn, Louise, and Monty (their friendly and loveable lab)! When we arrived we felt like we were pulling up to a mythical place that only existed in our minds... with the long tree lined driveway, sheep scattered on the outskirts of the property and the magnificent stone house perfectly situated in the distance surrounded by green lawn and lush foliage. As soon as we parked the car in the driveway we were greeted by Martyn and Monty and they gave us the tour of their gorgeous home. Every corner and wall was perfectly decorated and it had a "moody" vibe which I immediately fell in love with. We stayed in the Keiller room- it was a large space and so comfy & cozy, quaint, and stocked with all of the welcoming touches you could ever dream of... tasty homemade treats, white robes, slippers, bottled still and mineral water, the whole nine yards. Louise makes the most delicious sweet treats (and breakfast) and you can tell it is her passion... she makes her own cakes, pastries, cookies, brownies, 6 layer bars (if you don't know what these are you better ask someone quick haha). We truly felt like queens staying here and obviously we were not ready to leave this magical place but alas, all good things must come to an end at some point. It was such a special place to call "home" for a few days and I cannot express how lovely of a stay we had- and next time I visit Scotland, I will go out of my way to stay there again!

Heaven on earth

It doesn’t get better than this.. Mark and Louise are the consummate hosts, breakfasts with Louise’s cakes are fabulous, the views gorgeous, the room lovely and immaculate with stunning views. One of the loveliest places we’ve stayed and we travel a lot.

A wonderful place to be

There are days things happen to you that are totally unexpected.
We spent the last night of our extended trip through Scotland in an extraordinary place just outside Ballatar: CRAGGAN.
Calling it a boutique hotel would be an understatement. The CRAGGAN is run by a wonderfully kind couple. Our room was large, the best mattress we slept on in Scotland, superb pillows, a great bathroom and a view on hilly meadows with pheasants, rabbits and hawks.
Breakfast makes the Ritz-Carlton jealous.
If you have the opportunity to enjoy the hospitality of Craggan, grasp it: it has only three rooms
