Great wee hotel

Great wee hotel in a lovely location, the rooms are big with everything you could need. Friendly staff and a bar with a pool table and darts. Even got some free entertainment from some random guy with a saxophone who walked in and asked if he could play very Scottish as would be expected up this way

Pretty poor

.The hotel overall seemed a little tired (Anaglypta wallpaper, that kind of thing) but it’s a country hotel, so it comes with the territory. The main reason for 1 star was the awkward atmosphere created by a member of staff. We’d checked in late in the evening, so hoped to get a late check out. The young woman said she’d have to check, so we waited at reception. A guy with a man bun appeared and started to berate her. Telling her “customers can’t decide when to leave” and “for these things there needs to be a protocol”. So telling her off at reception where we could hear every word. It was so bad another guest ended up coming over and asking for the owners details to make a complaint. TBH I don’t think a late check out is an unusual request. Really felt terrible for the young woman as she was simultaneously running reception, taking/serving breakfast. She was really nice and trying to help, so for her to receive a public dressing down over something so trivial was really awful

Overcharged and very unhelpful

Be very careful booking this hotel. I used a booking site online and eventually had to call the hotel for confirmation that the booking had been made and how much it would cost. I was assured by Lovat Arms that the cost for one night was £117 but when I received my credit card statement I had been charged £156.
On calling the hotel again to try to sort this out they were extremely unhelpful and appeared to want nothing to do with it - they even commented "good luck with booking.com"!
I would not recommend this business to anyone!

Atrocious

My partner and I booked a 2 night stay here whilst travelling the NC500, we originally called to book a room but was told by William we couldn’t book over the phone as he was unsure on how to navigate his was through the system. Upon check in no one appeared to be at the reception. We navigated our way to the bar to find a member of staff where the bartender assisted us with checking in. When we got to the room we discovered that the heating did not work, there was toothpaste stains in the sink from previous guests, the bedsheets were coated in thick, long, black hair and the kitchen was closed by 8:30pm. We opted to go across the road to the Priory where we booked there for the 2 nights instead and had a delicious meal too! We are still awaiting a refund for a dirty room we did not use!! avoid this place at all costs!!

Excellent Conference Venue

Our voluntary railway campaigning organisation used the Lovat Arms for this year's AGM & Conference. We had over 30 attendees and the room we were given was perfect for the function.
I would certainly recommend this venue for up to about 50 people. We booked a soup & sandwich lunch for our speakers and there was tea & coffee available all day in the conference room.
The price was very reasonable and Beauly is an attractive place to stroll around after such an event.
