Quite the find
Quite the find. Lovely building. Grounds are thoughtfully cared for and a delight. Close to motorways so convenient location. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had dinner - it was very good. We had breakfast - that was good too. Room was small and a bit tight to move around but the bathroom was huge!

Not nearly as good as usual
We went for Afternoon Tea here yesterday and have been here on several occasions before. We have to say we were extremely disappointed with the sandwiches. They were extremely weird. One had basil in it and the other one pastrami with gherkin! We did complain to the waiter when it came to paying the bill but no recompense was made.
Why can’t there be a choice of meat and vegetarian options on the sandwiches. Not vegan nasty fillings.
The rest of the afternoon tea was nice but we were thoroughly put off by the nasty sandwiches! No check back was made to see if everything was to our liking. It clearly wasn’t.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are always disappointed when a returning guest leaves feeling dissatisfied, particularly when you have enjoyed Afternoon Tea with us on several previous occasions.
I was, however, surprised by some of the comments in your review. The sandwich selection you were served is our current Afternoon Tea menu, which is designed to offer a variety of traditional and contemporary fillings, including smoked salmon and horseradish, cucumber and cream cheese, roasted vegetables and basil, and pastrami with gherkin and mustard mayonnaise. We also offer vegetarian and vegan options as part of the selection.
We completely appreciate that not every filling will appeal to every guest, but we feel it is important to clarify that these are deliberate menu choices rather than unusual or poor-quality substitutions. In fact, we have received very positive feedback from guests who particularly enjoy having something a little different alongside the more traditional Afternoon Tea options.
We were also surprised to read that no check-back was made during your visit. Our understanding is that the team returned to your table several times, and had we been made aware at the time that you were unhappy with the sandwich selection, we would absolutely have been happy to discuss this with you and see if there was anything we could do.
You mention raising your concerns when paying the bill. While we are always happy to listen to feedback and put things right where something has genuinely fallen below our usual standards, in this instance the issue appears to have been a dislike of the particular sandwich fillings rather than a problem with the quality or preparation of the food.
We are sorry that the selection was not to your personal taste, but we do feel it is important to provide some context around the comments made in your review. The remainder of your Afternoon Tea was enjoyable, and we hope that this will not deter you from visiting us again in the future.

We recently celebrated our wedding at Berwick Lodge and honestly, we couldn’t fault a single thing. From the moment we started planning to the day itself, everything was absolutely perfect.
The venue is stunning and provided the most beautiful setting for our special day, but what really made it was the incredible team. Everyone was so friendly, attentive and helpful, and nothing ever felt like too much trouble. We felt completely looked after from start to finish, which allowed us to relax and enjoy every moment of our wedding day.
The food was fantastic, the service was exceptional and every little detail was taken care of. It was clear how much effort and care had gone into making sure everything ran smoothly, and it genuinely exceeded our expectations.
Our wedding day was everything we could have wished for and more, and Berwick Lodge played such a huge part in making it so incredibly special. We have come away with the most amazing memories and couldn’t recommend Berwick Lodge highly enough to anyone considering it for their wedding.

Wedding day
We just celebrated our wedding at Berwick Lodge and it was everything we had wished for. The venue, the staff were outstanding and would highly recommend a visit.
