Looking at previous reviews I was a bit tentative, however the price and proximity to where we needed to be (Heathrow and Windsor - but also preferring somewhere quieter than the usual airport hotels next to busy streets) made our decision.
The location is lovely, rural and set well back from the road with the large car park in front. The hotel has a welcoming approach with beautiful outdoor areas and gardens. Staff at reception were nice, very easy to check in. Foyer was very presentable and a nice touch were the jugs of iced water avaliable.
We just had a basic double room and it was better than expected, very clean. Large TV, nice side lamps, plenty of cupboard and table/desk space. Bathroom was nicely finished and all cleaned to a good standard. Large, thick and soft bath sheets plus plenty of hand towels. Complimentary shower gel and soap dispenser. Bed was a little soft for us but that's just personal preference. There was a kettle with tea, coffee and biscuits. Hairdryer, iron and ironing board in the wardrobe along with extra pillows.
Icing on the cake for us was breakfast. Beautiful dining area with large patio doors and windows overlooking the patio and outside seating areas (which I assume are open for you to sit outside during nicer weather). Welcomed to the dining room by lovely staff, given an extensive menu (could have salmon, eggs benedict, smoked fish, plus other items as well as the usual traditional hot breakfast). As well as this there was a self catering buffet continental style breakfast with various cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruits, cheeses, ham, pastries, fresh juices (nice touch that they had these in jugs surrounded by ice to keep chilled), different options of milk. Nice individual pots of marmalades and jams really was a fantastic breakfast - perfect poached egg!
I'd booked this room through a cheaper option on Google search and as it was my first time doing this I was a bit worried but no need to be. Our price was extremely good value, in fact it was the cheapest hotel that came up when searching, so another reason I was a tad apprehensive. It was a lot cheaper than Travelodge (which wouldn't have included breakfast and due to the areas near the airport, we'd have had parking costs on top!).
The only negative was that the hotel was extremely warm, but we just turned the radiator down and opened the windows (which wasn't an issue due to how quiet it was).
If we were in the area again, we will certainly be rebooking.
* Excellent, friendly staff.
* Breakfast surpassed expectations - perfect!
* Good facilities in the room, very clean and tidy.
* Lovely gardens and outside areas
* Large car park
* 10/15 minutes to Windsor and 20 to Heathrow Airport.

Overnight stop on way home. Beautiful building in lovely grounds. We got there early but the receptionist was very helpful and we were able to access our room. Any issues we had were dealt with promptly and efficiently. The evening meal was wonderful and the breakfast was freshly cooked and there was a good choice
. The room was spacious with a nice big comfortable bed. The bathroom could do with an upgrade but was fine for our purposes. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would certainly return.

Shabby and rundown but good service
Honest Review of Grovefield House Hotel
The biggest positive about Grovefield House Hotel is undoubtedly its staff. Throughout my stay they were polite, friendly, helpful and attentive, and they deserve credit for providing good customer service despite the condition of the hotel.
Unfortunately, the hotel itself feels well past its sell-by date. It is in desperate need of a complete refurbishment. Walking through the building is like stepping back into the mid-1990s, and not in a charming or nostalgic way.
My room was generally clean, but it was very tired. The taps and plumbing were old and worn, the paintwork throughout needed stripping back and repainting, and the window sills had accumulated multiple layers of paint over the years. The television looked as though it was at least 20 years old.
The lift also reflects the hotel’s overall condition. It looks shabby and poorly maintained, and to get the doors to close properly so the lift actually moves, you have to stand in a particular position. Otherwise, the doors repeatedly open and close before eventually engaging. That should really have been repaired long ago.
Breakfast was disappointing. The buffet offered only a very limited selection, with an emphasis on inexpensive items. Rather than a proper coffee machine or freshly brewed coffee, there was a flask of mediocre coffee. Tea was equally underwhelming—you simply make it yourself using a teabag and hot water from another flask, rather than being served a pot of tea.
Dinner in the restaurant was similarly uninspiring. The food was perfectly edible but only average, with little to distinguish it.
This is such a missed opportunity. The hotel is in an excellent location for visitors wanting convenient access to central London, and the building itself has potential. However, it is clear that significant investment in maintenance and refurbishment has been lacking for many years. Until that happens, the hotel falls well short of what many guests would reasonably expect.
I genuinely hope the owners decide to invest in the property, because with its location and the excellent staff already in place, Grovefield House Hotel could once again become somewhere people would actively choose to stay.

We had a lovely stay, the hotel is on wonderful grounds and has real potential to be brilliant, which some easy changes.
The rooms need refreshing, There was a curtain hook on the floor, so meaning sharp object left lying there and also leaving huge hole in the wall. The ironing board was super old and needs a new topper, The iron was missing from our room but a staff member did bring one quickly which was great. Walls need the old wallpaper removing and repainting as has stains on, and carpets need cleaning. The French door was unlocked when we checked in, but fortunately we realised else could have been unsafe, it was a struggle to lock but we managed. The room door too was rather shakey and didn’t feel very secure.
A few touches you could add are perhaps complementary water in the room, and a tea/coffee facility.
Breakfast was good, sausages were nice and poached eggs were cooked very well. But the coffee was cold telling me the canister/flasks used are either not working or the coffee had been there a very long time. though when I advised staff they brought a new one out.
Staff were all very friendly and helpful. We were given a late check out of 12pm due to a fire alarm going off in the middle of the night on the first night of our stay.
I would stay again regardless, but the changes would increase my rating.

Room on first look appeared nice but after first glance plenty of issues. Bathroom had broken bath panel
In 2 large areas, orange shower curtain through over use and no shampoo. Also shower would only offer burning water. Reported to reception where we were eventually given keys for another room to use the bathroom of but couldn’t use room as it had a broken window. The lift was a joke the receptionist actually had to physically push the door shut to make it work …. I’d rather have walked up the stairs…. But then when we used the stairs we saw the cemetery of dead flies all over the window frame. A real shame as the hotel could be lovely with just a bit of work.
