Charming and convenient to Gatwick

We stayed just one night, choosing Maple Manor for its proximity to Gatwick--and wow, were we pleasantly surprised! The staff was welcoming, the grounds were charming and perfectly kept, breakfast was hearty and delicious, and the room was very comfortable and clean.
The hotel is only 10 minutes from Gatwick airport. To get to Central London, you can take the train (station is about a 25-minute drive) and be downtown in about 40 minutes.

Hot cramped room. Unsympathetic staff

First, and maybe this is on me, the uber cost £30 for a 5 min drive from the train station to this airport hotel that has no shuttle service. Then, I was showed to my single room which is really no bigger than a closet. It was a hot summer day and the room (upstairs) was boiling. The windows don’t open more than a crack. I asked if there was any way to open the windows wider or if there were other rooms on the ground floor. I was told a flat no. It must be nearly 30 degrees in the room. Really disappointing in terms of convenience, customer service, and accommodation for a supposedly 4 star airport hotel. I wish I’d booked one of the corporate hotels with a shuttle service and dinner at least. I had to uber to the nearest village for a meal and a walk, which again added to the cost, since there is no restaurant nearby and no way of walking anywhere from the hotel.

Maple Manor was the perfect stay. All staff were extremely courteous, and very accommodating. Although the hotel is not served by LGW shuttle buses, reception staff called for a safe and reliable taxi on my behalf, and £20 later I was at the north terminal. Incidentally, £10 of the $20 fee was for airport drop off!! Anyways, as frequent flyer, yes definitely, I will be staying at the Maple Manor Hotel in future.

Great location for the airport and Purple Parking (although hotel also offers parking which we didn’t know about until the confirmation email came through and had ready booked ours). Quiet once the airport closed for the evening as pretty much at the end of the runway across the road. Lovely warm welcome from the receptionist. Recently refurbished so looks really clean and new - nice decor. Room didn’t have a/c but did have a freestanding fan, which was broken. However reception replaced it immediately with a bigger one which really moved the air round on the lowest setting, but was very noisy nd sounded like our bed was at the end of the runway! Didn’t manage breakfast as we had to leave before it started.

Unfortunate

I booked this hotel and right away I realized I had the wrong date just two minutes after my booking. I needed the room for the following week and offered to still keep the booking but switch the dates. No can do. They are not willing to budge or make any alterations. Yes it was my mistake, but the payment had barely gone through when I had to cancel and book the next weekend
