Cubley Hall gave us the absolute wedding of our dreams!
Cubley Hall gave us the absolute wedding of our dreams! From our very first visit right through to the post-wedding aftercare, the entire experience was flawless.
The event coordinator, Sandra, is simply phenomenal. Throughout the planning process, she met with us numerous times, offering invaluable advice based on past events while remaining completely open to all of our ideas. She genuinely cared about understanding our vision, taking every request in her stride and making our day feel entirely unique, special, and tailored to us. Her on-the-day coordination kept us calm, kept everything running seamlessly on schedule without ever feeling rushed, and went far beyond what we expected from a venue coordinator. Even after the day, Sandra and the team have been really helpful in packing away our belongings, random queries and generally looking after everyone.
The venue itself was breathtaking:
The Ceremony & Decor: We were married in the bandstand, which provided a stunning backdrop, and the team transformed the already beautiful barn into a gorgeous setting for our reception.
The Team & Service: Getting ready at Cubley was a joy thanks to the attentive staff. From the duty managers, chefs, and waiting-on staff to the cleaning crew and patient bar team, everyone worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make a full-house event look effortless. Special thanks to Joe for sorting out our very specific playlist!
Food & Atmosphere: Hosting the maximum number of guests, we have received glowing feedback from our guests about the incredible food, the warm welcome, and the amazing overall atmosphere. Those staying overnight also gave really positive feedback about their rooms and breakfast.
Every tiny detail was accounted for, including a midnight snack box left in our room, which was such a thoughtful touch!
We cannot thank Sandra and the wider team at Cubley Hall enough for their hard work, flexibility, and genuine investment in making our day so special. We could not have asked for more and highly recommend this venue to any couple!

Rubbish food

Welcome stop
This was a welcome stop on our Trans Pennine cycle tour. Our room was small, as advertised, but was perfect for our needs. The food was really good with veggie options. My veggie burger was really tasty. The members of staff were all really helpful and cheerful. Bike storage no problem. After breakfast our batteries were charged and we were on our way.

What a decline
As a family,mainly living in the north of Sheffield we used to regularly visit this superb attraction. Fabulous surroundings, glorious outside seating, a menu to die for, an enticing daily specials board, and top class cooked food. Sadly a couple of years ago the quality/range etc., of food steadily deteriorated and we started frequently going to other local pubs.
For my 80th birthday , I was so pleased that my family wanted for nostalgic reasons to return to Cubley Hall
The weather was brilliant, sight/location brilliant but the food was terrible. Choice was poor, nothing of any interest on the small specials board. My Gannon steak was poor, majority was greasy mushy chips, the egg was overcooked, and the lease overcooked dry and burnt. The only good bit was the mushrooms I'd ordered seperately. The rest of my family tried different meals, but clearly not impressed. We didn't even order any sweets which is my normal.
No one complained, my family have better manners. We just got in with getting on together and enjoying the afternoon.
We certainly won't be returning even for hopefully my 90th, unless we hear locally of dramatic food improvements.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review, and firstly, I'd like to say how sorry I am that your 80th birthday meal didn't live up to the memories you had of previous visits to Cubley Hall.
It's particularly disappointing to read as we've worked incredibly hard over the past year to improve both the quality and consistency of our food. In fact, issues with our chips were something we identified and addressed some time ago, and we haven't received complaints about them for over six months following changes to both our supplier and cooking procedures.
What is especially frustrating is that none of the concerns were mentioned to our team during your visit. We completely understand that some guests don't like to complain, but had we known your meals weren't up to standard, we would have replaced them immediately or offered an alternative. We can only put things right when we're given the opportunity to do so.
We're also sorry that our menu and specials didn't appeal on this occasion. We regularly review both based on seasonal produce and customer feedback, and we're always looking to strike a balance between offering favourites and introducing new dishes.
While we're disappointed to hear that you're unlikely to return, we do genuinely appreciate your feedback. We hope that one day you may decide to give us another opportunity to show you the improvements that so many of our recent guests have been enjoying.

Lovely, friendly hotel in a good location
I came to Cubley Hall late May for 2 nights with 3 friends, each of us having our own room. We used this as a base to visit the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield, and Wentworth Woodhouse in Rotherham, both places were brilliant, with fantastic guides. (My friends live in the south, I live in Sheffield).
We were blessed with excellent weather during our stay.
The surrounding area is beautiful, with lovely views.
I would definitely recommend staying at here, it has a very welcoming atmosphere with very helpful and friendly staff.
We were surprised by there being live music on one evening, which was a bonus
(in The Barn).
I want to give 5 stars but there were a couple of issues which I need to mention.
All the rooms were very comfortable and well equipped, but the room allocation was incorrect for 2 of us when we arrived (ie the small and standard doubles were swapped round for 2 of us).
When I mentioned this the next day, the staff member there couldn't have been more helpful, and reallocated to me the family room, which was very comfortable and I didn't need to climb as many stairs!
We had evening meals on both nights, and the food was good generally.
But, I ordered a vegan burger, which when it came didn't have the chips or coleslaw that it should have had. This was rectified but I had to wait a while after my friends' meals were served.
I hope to return, at least for lunch, which I have had here several times in the past.
