Quiet and convenient stay in Nydalen
Because of my Radisson member VIP status, I was upgraded to a fairly large junior suite, which was a very nice start to the stay. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with a desk suitable for working. The chair was adequate and had good back support. There was also a coffee machine and a kettle in the room, which was convenient. The weather was warm, so I slept with the windows open. There was some sound from the river outside, but it was more soothing than disturbing, and there was no traffic noise.
The location worked very well. The metro station is almost in the basement of the hotel, just across the street, so it is very easy to get into central Oslo. The hotel is also right on top of a shopping centre, which makes it convenient if you need shops, cafés or small errands nearby. Nydalen was much quieter than I expected, which was one of the positive surprises of the stay. In summer, the river area nearby is also pleasant, and people can even swim there.
Breakfast was good, with a nice buffet including eggs, bacon, sausages, different kinds of bread and rolls, mini croissants, fruit, cold cuts and more. One morning I ordered breakfast to the room, and that was also very good: a complete hotel-style breakfast with omelette and salad, bread rolls, cheese and cold cuts, fruit, jam, butter, orange juice and coffee.
The staff were generally friendly and efficient. The only small negative was check-in for an extra room I had booked for the last night. The guest arrived quite late, and the receptionist seemed confused, so we spent more time than I would have liked sorting it out.
I did not use the gym or other facilities, so I cannot comment on those. The price was around NOK 2,000 per night, which is not exactly a bargain, but for Oslo at the end of June it felt reasonable.
Overall, this was a very good stay. I would recommend the hotel for business travellers, families and tourists who want a quiet but very well-connected base in Oslo.
