The best thing about my stay was the hotel desk staff. I wish I could remember the woman's name who greeted me cheerfully. I first selected a 3rd floor room, but changed my mind for 1st floor. She happily changed it for me and quickly got me the new key card. When I came to the lobby to wait for my Uber ride, I mentioned I was a little nervous about the Uber because I was by myself. She immediately offered to walk out to the car with me, so they knew a person & face who saw the driver, and I felt much more comfortable. Thank you so much!

First room air conditioning not working. No other king rooms available so moved to second room with queen bed, tv remote did not work. Third room with queen bed finally had everything in working order. Then the key we were given for the third room didn’t work. The staff always tried to make things right just wasn’t in the mood when tired and wanting to get settled.

Dear Hotel Management,
We checked into the Hampton Inn Des Moines Airport shortly after midnight and walked out within 15 minutes because the room was disgusting and completely unfit to stay in. We have stayed at many Hampton Inn properties over the years and have always had positive experiences, which is why we booked this hotel. This location was a shocking embarrassment to the Hampton Inn name.
The room was absurdly small, with a bed and chaise lounge jammed into the corner like an afterthought. The chaise was covered in heavy stains, including one large stain in the center that looked like bodily fluid. The carpet was filthy, the air conditioner had visible mold and excessive condensation, furniture was chipped and damaged, paint was peeling in the bathroom, and a large gap under the entry door let in hallway light and noise. When we pulled back the sheets, we found multiple hairs on the bedding. We never unpacked, never used anything in the room, and left immediately because the condition was so bad.
The front desk experience was just as awful. When we asked for another room or a refund, the clerk told us we were interrupting her smoke break, disappeared for about 30 minutes, then came back refusing to help and threatening to call the police simply because we wanted our money back.
This was the worst hotel experience we have ever had and a complete failure of basic cleanliness, professionalism, and customer service.
