Family meet up
Brilliant location for a family meet up straight off the bus route. All children and adults well catered for with pool table and games. Food reasonably priced and great portions.

Lovely Sunday evening meal. Good value
Group of 14 - accommodated us to the time we wanted and a good table for all of us. Pre-ordered which was great for us as no fuss on the day and the food was excellent. Great size portions of good quality meat (turkey/ lamb/ beef all tried - not at all fatty), veg and extra gravy. Plates were hot and food was hot and tasty and all served very efficiently. Thanks to the chef for checking in with us and making sure everything was good. Even Grandma was happy with her meal - which is very telling! Overall a good value dinner for a large family group on a busy bank holiday Sunday.

Fuel for the Body
After a long days' climb, we were craving hamburgers. We were fortunate that there was an offer on which made our meal cheaper. We did notice the online menu didn't quite match the physical menu, and when we asked about this, we were able to have what was listed online.
When we arrived, we were in two minds about staying at Twa Dogs, for a number of reasons I won't elaborate on. Our food came out, it did not look particularly appetising, but it was edible and sufficient for us to refuel, rather than getting any real enjoyment from our meal.

Shocking experience!!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
On arrival, the place is far smaller than the pictures suggest. First impressions weren’t great, but they got worse quickly. We were “greeted” by a miserable, unfriendly older woman who looked like she’d rather be anywhere else. No welcome, no warmth, just instant attitude.
We were then told there would be a £15 per night charge for our two dogs, despite it clearly stating on Booking.com that up to two dogs are accepted free of charge. When I pointed this out, the response was simply “I don’t deal with that.” Helpful.
We agreed to sort payment later and were shown to our room, which felt more like being led down to a cellar than to guest accommodation. To be fair, the room itself was clean, if dated.
Things then took a bizarre turn. While we were mid-shower, there was a knock at the door, a man in chef whites, who turned out to be the manager, asking when we’d be paying. We’d been there less than 30 minutes and had already explained the situation. The desperation for payment before guests have even settled in is frankly embarrassing.
Later that evening, I went to pay and raised the dog issue again with another manager, who looked like he’d lost a fight with a wardrobe judging by the state of his t-shirt. He showed absolutely no interest in resolving anything. To make matters worse, the card machine wasn’t working, so I was told to find a cash machine. At that point, I’d completely lost the will.
We had a drink outside while watching the same manager wander around screwing brand new table numbers onto battered old tables. It was laughable, in a “you have to laugh or you’ll cry” kind of way.
Thankfully, we went into Keswick town afterwards and had a great evening, the highlight of the whole trip.
Returning later, I went to pay in cash and felt like I’d walked into the Crucible mid-final, being stared at by a room full of lads playing pool. When I finally got served, the £210 was taken like they were doing me a favour, with barely a word said.
The night was just as bad. Despite there only being a handful of guests, there was absolutely no attempt to keep noise down out of hours. 5 rooms, 2 of those are for owners/managers and 3 for guests.
Constant banging, doors slamming, people stomping around at all hours making ZERO attempt to have some courtesy for guests. Itbwas the aame early morning. Our dogs, who are normally very settled, couldn’t relax at all. Neither could we. We almost left in the middle of the night but attempted to get some rest.
We left first thing in the morning, just wanting to get out. My wife emailed afterwards out of courtesy, no response, nothing, which says everything. We could've had a night in 5 star accommodation for what this cost.
Keswick itself is fantastic and we’ll definitely be back, but we will never set foot in this place again. If you’re considering staying here, do yourself a favour and keep scrolling. There are far better options nearby for similar money or a bit more, run by people who actually care.
