Incredible Room with an Unbelievable View!
We stayed in a Premier Suite at the Westin and it was such an amazing experience!
The views from the entire room were breathtaking! The first thing we noticed was there was a balcony that connected all of the rooms and had an incredible ocean view! There was also a separate ocean view from the bedroom!
The entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The housekeeper kept the room super clean to where every square inch—inside and out—felt walkable with bare feet. She knew us by name and greeted us every day.
The restaurants and markets were also great, and the resort is steps from Whalers Village, making it a prime location for a vacation!
We can’t wait to come back and stay at the Westin!

Not sure how I feel about our trip with our family of seven. We got to the resort super late because we had 2 delayed flights. My husband is a Platinum-soon to be Titanium- Marriott Bonvoy Elite member. We had requested 2 connected rooms or at least close”. We got rooms on the 7th and 11th. Typically we get nice upgrades like a Partial or Full ocean view room-but nope, they don’t do that here. At check-in, I asked if there’s a lounge with coffee/etc. like other Marriott properties and she insisted that they don’t have that here. Typically we get access to a lounge with quick bites, but nope I was told they don’t have that here. They told me to keep coming back and trying. I was relentless and kept coming back to ask for a better room. Finally 2 days later we were able to snag an ocean view room (should be called half/partial ocean view) in the Ho’okupa tower (for a hefty difference in price) which is the only tower that has access to the Lanai lounge that I had no idea about. The Lanai lounge has small bites for breakfast and dinner and snacks/coffee/drinks throughout the day. I’m kind of annoyed by the treatment we got at this resort. Since we had 2 rooms, some of us were excluded from the Lanai because we didn’t have the other room in the Ho’okupa tower.
This is not what we are used to at all. I understand the hotel was at capacity but we reserved back in September. Treatment was completely unfair and not typical for Marriott Bonvoy. They sometimes made us feel completely inadequate. As far as the hotel itself, it’s okay. Rooms are nice, not the best we’ve stayed at. There’s a Mahele Market for coffee and breakfast items. Whaler’s village is next door which has tons of shops, some restaurants, and nice to walk at night. We have also stayed at the Maui Ocean Na’nea villas and I’d say that this resort has more dining options nearby and better pools. Not sure I’d stay here again after the treatment we received. Next time we will stay somewhere in Wailea!

Watch the Receipt/Tip Charge
The food was great and the view breathtaking! Ate at the Mo'olelo Restaurant. Highlights include the lobster rolls, Lanai Hala Kahiki and pineapple caprese. My only complaint is the manner in which they charge customers for the food and drink. We had 6 adults and two small kids. There is a line item "Open Service Charge % 20.00" which I assume to be the tip ($70.20). In bold lettering, the receipt also states **GRATUITY NOT INCLUDED**. Management is either deceitful or inept....I don't know any other options. I was fortunate that my server brought it to my attention as she presented me the bill. I wonder how many people paid double the tip, especially after one too many Mai Tai? The server was Connie B and I appreciate her honesty. Management should address this immediately.

Fun family getaway!
My family of 12 stayed in 4 rooms at this property. My husband and I stayed in the Hokupa'a tower and the others stayed at the other. We all enjoyed our stay! While I cannot vouch for the other rooms of my family, I can say that our room in the Hokupa'a tower was sufficient for my husband and I. We liked that there was a sitting area which made the room seem bigger. The bathroom consisted of a walk-in shower, 2 sinks and a wood wall that privatizes the toilet (however no door). Our room had a balcony facing Whaler's Village and ocean view. Housekeeping was daily. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Yes, the pools can get very crowded but that is to be expected in these types of resorts. One should definitely make restaurant reservations for dinner if you don't want to wait for an hour. The Lanai can also be crowded at certain times but very convenient when you want a quick snack or drink. As Titanium we were offered free daily breakfast from the Market downstairs and the options were vast. We did not however receive a room upgrade. BUT I do make it a point when in Hawaii to book the room that I want which is typically ocean view. I only hope to get upgraded to ocean front.
We tried Ulu Kitchen by Merriman for dinner and it was pretty good. We were frequent diners for lunch @ Hale Moʻolelo and the Mahele Market & Eatery and Starbucks for breakfast. Beware, the Starbucks line is almost always out the door in the early morning. Be sure to go to the various different concierges they have onsite where they will give you a 20% off discount card to the different restaurants onsite. Definitely worth it! Unfortunately sometimes I forgot to break it out.
The beach is awesome and the water clear.
All-in-all already planning to return next year!

Bad customer service, small rooms, and overcrowded pool
This has been the most disappointing Westin experience I’ve ever had, and I’ve visited many Westin resorts. The customer service was subpar, and despite booking an ocean-view room, the space was shockingly cramped—barely enough room beyond the bed, and the bathroom was equally small. To make matters worse, the pool area was consistently overcrowded, making it impossible to relax. We had to go to other properties just to enjoy decent facilities. Definitely not the quality I expect from Westin.
