Good spot, more of a Bed and Breakfast than hostel

I stayed here one night and quite enjoyed it, a lady at the bus station gave me a brochure and it was late at night so seemed like the best option.
The owner is a bit of a character and holds good conversation. The breakfast was great and the lady set it all up on the table for me which was good service. Only stayed one night as was quite expensive but would be cheaper if travelling in a group !

Parque O'Higgins

The house is nice but it is a little unattended lack maintenance. He said he had a pool but it wasn't available. We also had breakfast only hot water and after claiming to leave we were given two doughs.The place where it is located is close to the terminal and O'Higigins Park.

Pretty good hostal for the price but to greedy owner.

We went to this hostel because the owners son stood at the bus station speaking good English and "recruited" people to the hostel and it was pretty cheap, close to the bus station and we got a free transfer there from the owner.
We had a double room with shared bathroom and we liked to stay there at first because it was a pretty good price and friendly staff, but it was a little weird that the owner wanted to have payment every morning..
Then we heard that our friends, that also stayed there, had to pay extra money on their last day, because they used the shower after checking out time, when they waited for the bus.
And on our last day I spilled beer on the blanket/duvet, accidently but then we had to pay extra money and it was like 1/3 part of the room rate because he told me he needed a special laundry service for that.
That is not needed with beer and I would have had a little understanding if it was red wine but that is just greed all over.
My final advice is to go there, because it's a nice hostel and his older son is really helpful but don't stay longer than you paid for and don't make any mistakes.

Don't stay...just don't

This was the worst place we stayed at in the whole 7 weeks of traveling around South America. The main issue was that the place was embedded with cigarette smoke which had even infused into the bedding. The room was small with no window only a door which opened into the outdoor court yard. Unfortunately this was a hub of activity used by the owner and his children who played outside until late hours. We left before eating breakfast which was covered with flies.

Not that bad

We were given a flyer at the bus terminal & offered the 3 bed dorm for 85 pesos each a night for just the two of us & a free lift to the hostel so we went for it.
We were happy with the room, it was clean enough & the beds quite comfortable. The sheets did look really old but seemed to be clean. We didn't try to use the tv or fan in there so don't know if they worked.
It was a 20 minute walk, maximum, to the centre. Breakfast was standard for a hostel but the cups were a little dirty as someone previously commented. Didn't use the kitchen & wouldn't want to as the sink was always full of dirty dishes.
We stayed for 2 nights & the bathroom wasn't cleaned the whole time we were there & there was no toilet paper the second day. Didn't use the pool but it didn't look very clean. Could hear the family watching tv or on the computer all night, this didn't really bother me but I noticed it when I woke up so it would be a problem for a lighter sleeper.
It could be a nice hostel if they put some effort in.
