Rustic stay in Dilijan

I stayed here as a solo traveler with a small group tour. Our small group was housed in a block of rooms facing the cobblestone access street. There are no elevators and the exterior stairs to my second floor room were steep. The assigned rooms were very rustic and charming but a bit dark. My assigned room was equipped with a large bed, a mobile plug in heater unit, two bedside tables, a table and two chairs and a wardrobe. The bedcover was rough, natural and wooly in texture and contributed to the quaint, rustic feel of the room. The thick comforter was welcome during the cool night. There were only a few electrical outlets in the room. A teapot, tea/instant coffee and cups were thoughtful touches. The lighting in the bathroom was a bit dark and there was a little vertical shelf next to the sink to store toiletries. The WiFi signal was good. The hotel restaurant was located in a separate building and served excellent food in a homey atmosphere. The breakfast spread was excellent with multiple fresh options. The restaurant staff was helpful and friendly. Other rooms depicted on the hotel’s
website appeared to be more updated and modern.

Old Dilijan

One of the few attractions in Dilijan is the so-called Old Dilijan. In fact, a small street with a few houses styled after the old: balconies with carved railings, staircases to the verandas - all Georgian style, since here used to live Georgians. Expectation and reality did not quite coincide: a set aimed at tourists and their wallets, but nothing more. There's nothing else to see in Dilijan, alas!

Lacking in comfort

We were on a tour of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia and stayed here on day 12. It was by far the worst hotel of the trip. The room up a steep exterior staircase was bleak and dark with no heating except plug in convectors and no comfort. It seemed run down and sparsely furnished with very basic facilities eg no hot water when we got up though it did materialise a little later.
Dinner and breakfast were served in a separate building and were average.
Dilijan itself had little to offer. We went to the art gallery where we felt badly treated eg we were instructed in which order we were to view the exhibits and followed round, presumably to ensure we didn’t try to steal anything.

An OK Stay

We spent two nights at this hotel. The plus points are that the room was large, clean and generally comfortable. We had dinner one night which was very good. The breakfast was adequate but lacked yogurt and dried fruit and nuts and the bread was a bit dry. The main negatives are that our room was right on the roadside and was very noisy all night - from both traffic and dogs barking. Also, the curtains were thin and let in far too much light. The final issue was that the shower drain smelled dreadfully.

horrible breakfast

3 star hotel with a 1 star breakfast. The building is really nice, the room was spacious, the breakfast was horrible. Only one kind of bread, stale and hard, no hot milk, and no coffee except Armenian coffee, which, well, it’s an acquired taste and not for everybody, and def not as your first morning coffee. A complete disaster of a breakfast.
The restaurant itself, when functioning as a restaurant, is acceptable.
