Large rooms in a grand and charming old house

We felt right at home! This is a comfortable house with very large rooms, and furnished with everything you need and nothing you don't. There are only a few guest rooms, and there is a guest sitting room, outdoor areas, big verandahs and a breakfast room. So you feel like you have the run of the house. It's private, it has a lovely little garden that is visited by small birds and it's well positioned for shops and restaurants. Virginia seemed to have the happy knack of turning up when we needed her, and being invisible when we didn't. We stayed over Christmas for six days, and it was perfect. We were living in our own mansion in the middle of town!

Unconscionable behaviour

The owner scammed us out of $490. My husband and I booked a 2 night stay here through the online system on Saturday 15 June and thought we had booked for 17 July, but we had booked for 17 June ie only 1 day away! As soon as we realised the error (and it was our error) we contacted the motel to explain. Management admitted to knowing we didn’t turn up but stated as it was a no show, we would be charged the full amount, including the fee we paid for parking! They then expected we would pay another $360 to stay on the correct dates - I kid you not! I take full responsibility for making the booking error however it was a clear error. When we booked less that 24 hrs before, 3 out of 5 rooms (more than half) we’re still available and yet apparently the fact we missed our booking meant they would have lost money - so they’ve won our $490 for free. Such disgusting and unconscionable behaviour.

COMFORTABLE, ULTRA- CLEAN AND SPACIOUS

We booked for three nights in March 2022, and had a downstairs room, No.2. The room was spacious, with an en-suite and small refrigerator. Everything was maintained well and clean. Our hostess, Virginia, took pains to ensure that we had everything we needed. A light breakfast is provided which you will prepare yourself from the ingredients on hand. A range of jams, spreads, juice, cereals are all there and a large fridge also in the breakfast room. There is a lounge room available for guests.
There is very little noise, apart from early morning sessions at the gymnasium opposite, which will not worry anyone but the lightest sleeper, and this for only a short period of time in the morning. Limited off-street parking is available.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Westbury, and would certainly recommend this to any couple. An excellent base to stay in Dubbo.

Beautiful historic home

Hostess Tish is welcoming and helpful, our room was spacious and warm, we were able to relax, and could pop into the restaurant next door for a meal. Conveniently located, you can walk into town and visit local cafes.

A calm and relaxing stay

I have stayed at Westbury a number of times over the past few years and not previously reviewed this wonderful Bed & Breakfast. The friendly greeting from Tish, the owner and host, is always with a smile and as if i had stayed the week before. Each of the comfortable rooms is different, all with ensuite and air conditioning.
The central location is excellent.
Tish provides an excellent breakfast, no fixed menu, just a few questions the night before about what time and what I might prefer. Excellent service. Whilst the restaurant was not open on this whilst, that was no problem, Tish prepared an excellent two course meal, enjoyed outside in the pleasant shade of the garden.
I look forward to my next stay.
