Old World charm with friendly service.

We needed accomodation close to public transport and with parking and Toorak Manor ticked the boxes as our choice for attending the AO tennis.
Hawksburn station is only 5 mins walk and there are cafes restaurants pub and Woolworths within very easy walking distance.
Every room is different…..ours had queen bed, and room for two chairs and table with view through the trees at the front of the house. Road traffic noise was minimal with double glazed windows and trains were not an issue in this room.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was pretty good value for the price.There is a large dining and lounge area with old style furniture in keeping with the house.
Keep in mind the parking is tight round the back of the property and if you have a large car it can be difficult to get back out if all parks are filled.

Dusty, dirty and very 'olde' wordly.

Olde worldy charm - not! My room was very dusty, carpet was very dirty - didn't take my socks off as a result and sheets had that very starched, hotel feel. Bed was fairly comfortable. Bathroom was clean, cheaply done out and shower head refused to stay upright. I couldn't get the TV to work so just used my laptop. I heard someone snoring through the wall the whole night - hardly slept and had to be up early to present to a hall full of students. Oh - and breakfast was served between 8am - 10am - I went to work on an empty stomach as left at 7.15 as many people staying for work purposes would do. I won't be back.

Old fashioned comfy

This is a lovely old hotel in a brilliant location, just by Hawksburn station about 3 stops from Flinders St, and near very trendy South Yarra shops and cafes.
Spotless and spacious, lovely old building, if you want to avoid the concrete and glass modern hotels.
Helpful and welcoming staff. Big comfy rooms. Unpretentious.
The breakfast looked a bit sparse: much better to stroll a very few hundred yards down to Hobba in Malvern Road, past the pleasant and welcoming Toorak Hotel with its nice bar and good food, which is perfect for a pint and a bite in the evening.

Inexpensive hotel in great location

Friendly, inexpensive hotel in a good location.
Comfortable bed with good cotton sheets, recently redecorated rooms with old fashioned decor. Old shower but new vanity all clean and reasonable size.
Ground floor rooms near railway can hear trains early morning, better rooms would’ve on the other side.
Friendly staff, I didn’t eat there but continental breakfast was available.
The grounds are untidy but being worked on.
The location is excellent with trains, trams, coffee shops and restaurants in walking distance - as well as Prahan markets and Chapel Street.

Step back in time

My wife and I just spent 4 nights at the Manor and loved everything about it. It has soul as opposed to a sterile corridor of rooms in modern hotels. The location is excellent with trains station only a short walk and only 3 stops to Flinders St. The couple who own and operate it are very warm and helpful. We will certainly be staying here again on our next Melbourne adventure.
