Don't judge a book by its cover

Our room was nicely furnished, bed very comfortable, we slept like logs. Overall standard is fine given the relatively low cost. Very quiet at night, as you'd expect in a place like Sheffield, though we did hear snores from another room at one point. Breakfast is an optional extra, you have to cook your own however the supplies (by arrangement the night before) up to and including bacon and eggs are exceedingly generous. Some iffy OH&S issues around the stove, and the washing up sink is very poorly lit. Yes the bathrooms and toilets are shared and on the plain side, but perfectly clean and functional. I'm beginning to think some TripAdvisor reviewers are unable to distinguish 'plain' and 'dirty'. Owners and other staff very chatty and friendly, apparently major external renovations will take place over the next 12 months.

Filthy, no service & mocking the guests with signage

This is not a B & B, it is a delapodated house lacking cleanliness, friendliness & provides no enjoyment for guests by not offering any service. In the kitchen area which is shared amongst all guests on the property, signs are hung stating crude & insulting remarks. The entire property contains only 2 showers & 2 toilets for all guests to share. Hence, this claimed "B & B" has limited resources, proves to be uncomfortable, & plainly inhabitable. I did not enjoy my stay here what so ever & obviously it ruined my experience in the area.

should have checked this. AWFUL place. She actually knocked on my door (woke me) at 10:41 to inform me that she had gotten me milk for my coffee. Then it was LOUD all night long. FILTHY. Showers, toilets disgusting. Fresh ground coffee? Only if you bring your own. Home made jams? HORRIBLE - don't go there!

DO NOT STAY AT SHEFFIELD B&B, TASMANIA

I should have checked Trip Adviser before I booked!!! Fawlty Towers has more stars. The property looks presentable on the internet....but there is only the one photo from across the street. I understand why, now. Probably a beautiful property in the past, now...run down, needs lotsa maintanance to be presentable. Weeds, rotting timbers & flakey paint. The room......, they gave us their best room...double bed, air-con & ancient TV didn't work, nor room light. On arrival "you pay cash?" Shared dirty bathrooms. The dining area, "industrial kitchen" it was called, was a similar separate delapidated building. Inside, everything you touched, utensils, plates, table & chairs, TV & remote, kettle, benches & floor were all grease sticky. Ughhh...had to wash up before we ate. Can't forget the 2 commercial fridges with their frozen food, noisy as ! Needless to say it was an experience. WE WILL NOT BE GOING BACK. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in beautiful Sheffield, unless you like backpacker standard, do not stay here.

Bad choice.

Well we made our choice to stay at the B&B because of our phone conversation with the owner, she seemed so lovely. .She made it sound so nice we booked there and then. It was 10 am on the day of arrival in Sheffield that morning she had rang us to see if we were still staying that night, never had experienced that before We arrived to find a very run down B&B to our disappointment,the lady welcomed us. The kitchen was unclean and bad odors .The bed room was okay but the bathrooms and toilet was not clean .Breakfast consisted of open used boxes of cereal. Open Vegemite etc. there was no fresh milk. What really took us back is when she asked for cash. After looking around when she had left we did not won't to stay there, only that we had payed we had no choice but to stay the night as it was to late in the night to find other accommodation
