Great location. Close to beach and National Park walks. Great ocean view from balcony. Nicely decorated unit.

Significant difference between listing and reality
We stayed at La Mer Beachfront Apartments, Sunshine Beach over Christmas and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience.
We booked nearly 12 months in advance and paid $840 per night for a Level 2, two bedroom apartment. The two bedroom apartments are shown online as renovated and modern, which is what we based our booking on. Guests are not able to select a specific apartment, and on arrival we were allocated Apartment 15, which is not renovated and looks very different from what is shown in the photos.
If it had simply been older but clean, that would have been fine, but it wasn’t. The apartment was visibly worn and unclean, with thick dust, spider webs, mould, a stained couch, and a generally tired and poorly maintained feel.
We were travelling with a toddler, which made several issues more significant. The apartment was advertised as air-conditioned, but the second bedroom had no air conditioning, making it very difficult in summer. There was also no plug for the bath, which was one of the reasons we chose this apartment for our child.
There were also safety and hygiene concerns. We found visible mould and heavy dust throughout the apartment, and one of the smoke alarms had been removed. With the apartment on the second floor and no alarm near the kitchen or living area, this was concerning.
We were also sent a confirmation email directly from the accommodation stating a 10am check-in time. We arrived at midday with our toddler expecting the apartment to be ready, only to be told check-in was actually 2pm.
We raised all of these issues in writing with management, provided photographs, and asked for a reasonable resolution. The only offer made was a 10% discount, with no offer to clean the apartment or address the safety issues. We were also told this was the worst apartment in the complex by the cleaner, despite being charged the same rate as other two bedroom apartments. I think the photos speak for themselves of the state of the accommodation.
As no meaningful resolution was offered, we chose to leave early and make alternative arrangements. This was our decision. Any suggestion that we were evicted, acted improperly, or failed to engage is incorrect. We raised our concerns calmly and in writing, and left because the apartment was not as advertised and our concerns were not addressed. Following our early departure, there was a disagreement regarding the return of the deposit and the keys, which was ultimately resolved on a commercial basis.
What was most disappointing was how the situation was handled. We attempted to resolve the issues calmly and reasonably, but the responses we received were dismissive rather than focused on fixing the problems.
Thankfully, we were able to move elsewhere and still enjoy our holiday, but based on our experience, I would not recommend staying here.

The unit was looking tired. Sliding door fell off its track, blinds were hard to close, old tracking, yellowing ceiling fans and some concrete cancer in the bathroom. Very little kitchen utensils, no platters or large bowls to be found.
Also my wife stood on a large shard of glass that caused quite a bit of bleeding. We couldn’t go on it planned walk. Management were concerned but not much more than that. Offered 5% off our next stay but we would have got that anyway as return customers.

Mixed Feelings
Have put off rating this apt as do not like writing negative reviews & it definitely was not all bad .
Arrived 20 mins before office due to close but they were shut . We had received notification the day before that we were to be in a different apt due to a flood in one we were allocated - absolutely fine - that could not be helped . However , when we went to have a shower in early evening we had no towels - had to dry ourselves on bath mats - not great when have travelled for over 16 hrs & were v tired & hot - not young either ! Phoned the after hrs number & explained only to be told they would bring them at 8:30 next morning -( which they did ) - but what could you say without sounding difficult that you really wanted them that night ?! - it was mid evening so not that late .- - also for our 2 nights in that unit we had 1/4 roll of toilet paper .
The other main issue in Apt 1 was the curtains - all off the track & inside curtain partially on inside track & vice versa - impossible to close - we were unable to stand on chairs to fix as my husband has had a stroke & I had just had major surgery so not allowed to stretch or lift , so consequently we got woken very early with sun streaming in .
The staff did try to fix with a little success the next day after being informed but certainly still not perfect - why were they like that to start with if unit had been checked over .
We eventually ( after another wee delay ) got moved to apt 3 which actually was better except for some issues with cleanliness- we ate out but would not have used the oven & the shower needed a bit of attention as well - a light not going either in bathroom .Will attach photo of oven door but not shower , although I do have one .
Having said this the staff were pleasant , the location great - view a bit obstructed by a tree but if on balcony we did have one .
So really a few mixed feelings re our stay here ..
