Good pub stay
Its an old Art Deco pub but I was told that the rooms had recently been renovated so I put my parents up there.
They enjoyed the new beds, new big screen TV's & neighbourhood.
The girl who checked them in (Laura?) was extremely helpful with directions & got them a coffee each day.
Its above a pub so it was loud but it was nice for my folks to eat downstairs with us of an evening & then head to bed.
Cheap price & an enjoyable stay. They will be back.

Poor charing cross
Greater by a lady who simply said, Hi, do you have a booking. No pleasantries, just here's your table, we need it back in 2 hours. Don't worry, you can have it back now!
Beer selection is now the usual crap, nothing interesting, and we ordered the roast beef, and roast lamb. Beef was obviously cooked yesterday, tough as nails and inedible. Lamb fatty, more than it should be, and everything else, cold. We were first in at 12, so again. No need.
To top it off, UFC blaring on the TV, so atmosphere totally grim. Avoid unless you just want to drink lots, eat poor food, can't hear as TV is so loud and like fighting! Local ruined.

Always a good meal!
We had a lovely lunch with the kids outside in the beer garden. Also could bring the dog - a bonus.
The kids fish and chips was very tasty.
Sunday is roast day - always brings a crowd.
And the salad and halloumi was delicious!
Will be back.

Cosy refurbished room
I read a few reviews on here after I had booked so I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised.
The girl at check in told me that the rooms had recently been refitted with new beds & matresses and I must say I slept well. She was also more than happy to gie me a free coffee each morning when I came down.
Its not the Ritz Carlton by any means but I was able to walk to Bronte or Bondi beach each morning & have a very decent meal downstairs each night.
Dont stay here if you are expecting 5 star at a 3 star price but DO STAY if you want a good pub, in a fantastic area with a great all round experience.

Pub downstairs was buzzing so not good for those that expect countryside quiet.
I will remember to come back here, its a shame there's not more places like this left in Sydney.
