A great holiday all round
We are currently staying at de haan and I wanted to write my review now after reading some of the more recent negative reviews.
We arrived on Monday lunchtime after a very easy drive from the ferry at Dunkirk. The staff were very welcoming and gave us all the info we needed to start our stay. We have an electric car so found the chargers quickly and very easy to use.
We are a family of 6 4 generations, great grandparents, grandparents, mummy and daddy plus our little 2 year old grandson.
We have a premium cottage no 625, a super quick 5 min walk from the dome. Cosy, clean and everything we need. One very slight negative the upstairs rooms do get warm and the windows (for safety reason) don’t open to far.
This is a smaller centre parcs compared to others in holland and uk we have visited but still loads to do, alpaca walking today, small animal farm (baby pigmy goats !) and amazing huge indoor soft play plus all the usual stuff. Pool is smaller but couple fun slides and great rapids. Changing areas clean and all staff really helpful.
Main dome has various places to eat frikadellen and frites with mayo took me back to my youth when my parents were in the RAF. We chose to cook in our chalet, de Haan has a couple small supermarkets Aldi and Ok very close to the parc.
Overall I would highly recommend de haan. Far far better value than uk, Monday to Saturday with ferry travel 2 cars £1300 !

Disappointing Family Holiday
I am writing this review while still on holiday here as I feel it is important to share our experience honestly.
Unfortunately, we have been very disappointed with the overall standard of the accommodation and facilities. The lodges are dated and on arrival, our bedroom had hairs left behind and was clearly not cleaned to an acceptable standard. This was eventually rectified after we raised it with staff. The shower pressure is also extremely poor.
We are a family of four with young children, and there are also some serious safety concerns. The front door of our lodge has no manual lock mening our children can simply pull the handle and open the door from the inside. I find this particularly concerning when staying with young children.
Parking has also been frustrating. It can take around ten minutes to find a space and the available spaces can be a considerable walk from the lodge. On arrival their were also unclean plates and cutlery so we had to wash everything ourselves before using it. There is no drying rack provided for washing up, which is another small but inconvenient issue.
The children's activities are reasonably good but they are quite expensive for what is offered.
However, the most unacceptable experience of our stay was at the on-site Il Guardino restaurant. We waited approximately an hour for our food, and when it eventually arrived, it was honestly some of the worst food I have ever eaten. I ordered a pizza expecting it to be freshly prepared but it appeared to be a very poor-quality frozen pizza. It was completely inedible and without exaggeration it is the worst meal I have ever been served in a restaurant.
What made the experience even more frustrating was that despite the lengthy wait the kitchen staff appeared to be standing around chatting rather than showing any sense of urgency. Given the quality of the food and the level of service the whole experience was extremely disappointing.
We will of course make the most of the remainder of our holiday but based on our experience we would not return to this park. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend it and would advise anyone considering staying here to think very carefully before booking.

Shouldn’t be allowed to use the Centre Parcs name
We stayed as a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids aged 7,10 and 13).
First of all, I think they should be in trouble with the Belgian equivalent of the Trades Description Act. We booked a ‘premium’ 4 bed cottage as we’d heard the European centre Parcs are better etc. maybe others are but this one is woeful. Absolutely nothing premium about this. The cottage was so dated, full of cobwebs, nowhere in the lounge to store food or any belongings - nothing other than a tiny wardrobe with 2 hangers in the downstairs bedroom. The toilet stank like the men’s urinals in a pub from the moment we arrived, you also couldn’t open the door at the same time as the bathroom door as no room. It was so dated inside, it had a comedy amount of glasses, but not much else of any use.
The cottages are on a tiny site, no nice scenery, all very close together and you can hear all your neighbours. Currently nearly 11 pm and there’s a noisy group outside with dogs barking. Loads of dogs here . There’s no one really around to provide any sort of customer service, you are literally left to your own devices. I enjoyed a haven holiday in a caravan more than this.
The dome is like a huge greenhouse - so sweaty in the heat and no air con anywhere.
The swimming pool was ok, always heaving and the changing rooms were dirty and often one of the slides was shut. Hardly any lifeguards and people just throwing themselves down the slides and lazy river without leaving spaces for people.
Best bits were leaving the site and going to Bruges for the day, we did that twice.
Really surprised that centre Parcs are prepared to tarnish their name with this site.

Great family holiday
I decided to leave a review because I had been quite worried after reading some of the Tripadvisor reviews but we actually had a really great experience.
We stayed with our 2- and 4-year-olds in the mid-level accommodation. We knew very hot weather was forecast so we took our own fans. The upstairs rooms were definitely warm on the hottest days (around 29 degrees on one day where the weather was 34 outside though generally about 26/27 on most days), but honestly they weren’t much hotter than home for us.
The accommodation is a little worn in places and the staircase is very steep and narrow with a hole/open section, but it was absolutely fine for our children we just had to speak to them about being careful etc . I would say it could be more difficult with a younger child. That said, the accommodation was over £2,000 cheaper than equivalent UK Center Parcs sites for the same week so we felt it was excellent value for money. Also, taking 2 toddlers away it wasn't a bad thing if it wasn't pristine as I was less worried about things. It was tidy etc on arrival.
We absolutely loved the pool. Even on busy days there was plenty of room and the children had a brilliant time. The pool areas aren’t particularly well signposted, so it’s easy to miss things – there’s a whirlpool upstairs and a small outdoor pool which was fantastic in the heat. I had to ask a staff member how to find the outdoor pool.
The approach to the slides also seemed more relaxed than in the UK and our children loved being able to go on the flumes with an adult.
The combi ovens worked perfectly well for us, although things like chips took a little longer than they would at home. My husband put a photo of the controls into AI and got step-by-step instructions, which solved that problem .
There are also lots of free activities, including the kids’ club and soft play. We paid for bowling one day and the kids also loved riding the little jeeps.
We did a day trip to Bruges, which was fantastic. Id recommend the chocolate museum for young kids. We also visited the beach. It’s not the biggest Center Parcs, but there’s plenty to do and it’s really well placed for exploring the surrounding area.
One of our best tips is to use the nearby Aldi – it was much cheaper for food and essentials. We didn’t eat out much, so I can’t really comment on the restaurants, but the drinks and snacks we bought on site were good.
Overall, we’d definitely recommend it, particularly if you’re looking for a more affordable alternative to the UK sites. We paid for the tunnel with our tesco clubcard points. Don’t let the negative reviews put you off – go with realistic expectations, prepare for the heat if you’re visiting in summer and have fun.

Nice stay with toddler
We stayed with our toddler in VIP Cottage 243 and had a very nice stay!
Beforehand I was a bit hesitant by the negative reviews about the cleaning, but fortunately we didn't notice anything of that. The cottage was clean and tidy. It is indeed somewhat dated, but a very nice and comfortable cottage and the beds were fine.
The beach was a little further walk than we expected beforehand. With a toddler it is quite a bit, but with a wagon it was doable. Bring plenty of food and drinks, because at the beach itself there is really nothing to get. You really have to take the car for that.
Also the supermarket at the park was not too bad for us in terms of prices. We expected it to be much more expensive, but fortunately that was not so bad.
All in all we had a lovely time and would definitely come back again. So don’t be too put off by the negative reviews, because our experience was just very positive!

Wat geweldig om te lezen dat jullie zo’n heerlijke tijd hebben gehad in Park De Haan!
Fijn dat de VIP Cottage zo goed is bevallen en dat jullie deze schoon, netjes en comfortabel hebben ervaren. Leuk dat jullie samen met jullie peuter zo hebben genoten en dat de bolderkar handig was voor de wandeling naar het strand.
Ook fijn om te horen dat de prijzen in de supermarkt meevielen. Bedankt voor het delen van deze positieve ervaring!
