Clean Modern Decor, Unusual Breakfast Setup

I stayed here for one night last week while travelling with a friend. We originally requested a twin room but were given a double, presumably through lack of available twins. The room was very clean and looked to be recently decorated. All the furnishings were upto a very high standard and the room had a modern shower fitted (no bath).
We mainly were using the hotel as somewhere to sleep overnight as we were actually visiting nearby Ypres, however the location to Diksmuide would be good if you needed to visit this place. Parking is offsite just over the road but there were plenty of spaces available for us.
The setup of Breakfast in the Feestzaal de Kroon is unlike anything else I have encountered before. There is a small table in the room with two stools at it with some cereal, butter, jam, and cutlery etc. There is also a small fridge in the room with a selection of items, some of which are free (milk and water etc) some of which are chargeable such as alcohol.You inform the owners what time you would like breakfast and they drop off some fresh bread and pastries outside your room in the morning and you collect it and have breakfast in the room. Not necessarily a bad experience, just something that we were not used to.

Not great, not bad - just not for us.

The three star rating is described as "average" on here, but the experience is different from that, it's certainly not average, it's just...well...different. While it's true the room was spotlessly clean and spacious with a wonderful bathroom, it lacked the warm touches normally seen in hotel rooms (no armchairs to sit on, no curtains (only blinds), not even a picture on the wall), so instead of feeling warm and welcoming, the experience was more like spending a night in a repurposed small airport lounge or newly-built office block - albeit one with a remarkably comfortable bed with pillows to match.
As the rooms appear to be an add-on to what might well be their core business of providing large reception areas for parties, I expected the night we stayed (a Saturday) to be noisy, but in all fairness that wasn't the case and all noise had stopped by 11pm. Breakfast was a mixed bag however, while the boxed selection of bread rolls and pastries left outside the door in the morning was welcome, the cling-filmed, dried up cheese in the fridge wasn't.
So would we stay here again? No, in lacking any warmth it appeared soulless to us.
