Scammers?

Don't book anything here! This hotel canceled my booking for July this year due to 'immediate hotel closure'. However, I had already paid and still haven't got my money back, I can't reach them now. While they are online.

Bad experience

booked via social deal. reception staff not really friendly and always sniffing their nose (sick???) smelly corridors in the hotel. the smell in the room was gone. super small room. The bathroom door does not open fully because the bed is in the way. tablet above sink = cardboard. Did not work: bathroom ventilation, refrigerator, night light. Spray head in shower very dirty, rest of shower clean. When we checked in we heard that there was a problem with the door opening tickets. therefore received a normal key (renting a room with a problem?) Breakfast not wow but okay. elevator: very dirty and lights on floors do not light!! is elevator still ok?? perfect location of hotel. only substandard hotel. We often book with social deal for the first time and return as a "normal" customer if the hotel is okay. never here again! outdated hotel that could be turned into something beautiful if it were maintained! (staff at breakfast were super friendly!)

Not recommended.

The hotel was booked for an overnight stay as we had dinner nearby.
Upon arrival the room turned out to be ice cold (less than 16 degrees).
Reported to reception and they promised to solve the problem.
When we returned the room was still freezing. Unfortunately, no one was present to report this.
'In the morning it was barely 12 degrees in the bathroom.
The reception was still closed upon departure.
The problem was reported afterwards by email. However, no one bothers to give an answer.
Highly recommended!

One-time experience.

The photos on the site suggest different things than what you actually find. This is a "hotel" or so it pretends to be in the center of Mechelen. However, to start with you have to call 7 times to get in because the first 6 times you are transferred to a mobile phone, but even there you end up on a voicemail. Once you arrive, you have to see if you can find someone because the "receptionist" is helping to set up tables. It then turns out to be impossible to pay in any electronic way. Everything has to be in cash!?!? When you finally open the room door, the smell of the drainage ("het putteke") greets you. The cupboard can only be opened partially because the TV is in the way. The "seating area" mentioned on the site is one chair in the corner of the room. And in the bathroom the rod for the sprinkler is full of rusty spots. Everything else is "great" . We made an exception for one time to our habit of staying at Van Der Valk and that will remain one time.

Definitely never again

Never again. I left the hotel at 4 am. After a short night of sleeping in the most unsanitary bed ever. Totally recommended, everything in the hotel is completely run down. It gave me Soviet retirement home vibes, although I've never visited anything like that
