Gorgeous hotel

Stayed here one night, as part of our European road trip, booked one of the lovely rooms on 5th floor, it was a heatwave the day we arrived so it was so hot, the manager was so understanding and helpful, we didn't have too much time to explore the area, but what we saw was beautiful along the riverside etc a very short walk from hotel. I would definitely recommend this unique lovely hotel, we will be back as we want to spend at least a couple of days to explore the area by foot. Thank you to the Manager and wonderful staff at Martins and hope to see you in the near future

Disappointing stay – does not match the photos

We stayed at Hotel Martin’s Patershof this weekend and unfortunately that was very disappointing.
When booking through Booking.com, beautiful rooms were shown in the photos. Because we were afraid that we would not get such a room, we contacted in advance. We were given the opportunity to upgrade for €30-40 extra. We deliberately paid an extra €40 to be sure of a nice room as shown in the pictures.
Upon arrival, the room did not match the images shown online at all. When we indicated this, they could not give us another room at first, while we had to pay the extra €40. Only after we indicated out of frustration that we wanted to write a negative review, we still got another room. However, even this one did not come close to the rooms in the photos.
When we indicated this, we received a response that we should have “sent the photos”. We found this very strange, since you can assume that the photos shown correspond to what you book.
In addition, the room was very stuffy and the air conditioning made a lot of noise, which made the stay not pleasant. All in all a very negative experience during what should have been a nice day away.
The breakfast was not recommended (€27 p.p.). Around the corner is a SPAR where you can get delicious sandwiches, croissants and smoothies. There are nice places nearby to sit, so that's a much better (and cheaper) option.
In short: price-quality is not right and the expectations raised by the photos are not fulfilled.

Room and breakfast wasn’t worth 250.00 euro a night
Tired room needed paint and a good clean of the furniture.
I’d stay again but I’d choose a cheaper room as the extra cost for a premium room seemed like a poor choice

Great hotel in an excellent central location

We stayed here for a weekend and thought it was a fine hotel. The location is very good, right in the city and within walking distance of basically everything worth seeing in Mechelen.
Breakfast is good and extensive, with plenty of choice and even champagne for those who feel like it in the morning. The room was fine, otherwise not very special, but just what you can expect for this price.
You can park at the hotel in the private garage, which is very convenient. Keep in mind that the parking spaces are quite tight. With a large car, parking here can be quite a challenge.
All in all a great hotel, especially because of its central location.
