Paradise Found: St. George's Caye Resort Is the Real Deal
We came to St. George's Caye Resort with one goal: to completely disconnect — no phones, no social media, no noise, no crowd. And from the moment we stepped off the boat and onto that dock, the resort delivered on every single count. This is not the kind of place that tries too hard. It doesn't need to. The setting does all the work.
Our beachfront cabana was nothing short of perfect. Waking up to the sound of gentle waves just a few feet away, with the Caribbean stretching out to the horizon — it's the kind of thing you dream about and rarely get. Peaceful, intimate, and exactly what we needed.
But what truly sets this place apart is the people. Elmer at the bar — the man is an artist. Whether it was a cold Moscow Mule at sunset or something more creative, he had it handled with a smile and real warmth. Yasmine at the front desk made everything effortless. Nothing was ever too much to ask, and she always made us feel genuinely welcome. And José — our guide for the snorkeling excursion — was exceptional. Knowledgeable, attentive, and clearly passionate about the reef and the sea life around it. He made an already incredible experience truly unforgettable.
The food deserves its own paragraph. The chef has a rare gift: the ability to create simple, clean, deeply satisfying dishes that leave you feeling good rather than heavy. Every meal felt fresh and intentional — nothing excessive, everything delicious. Healthy cooking with soul. We never once wished we were somewhere else at dinner.
If you're looking for a place to truly reset — to remember what silence sounds like, to sleep deeply, to eat well, and to be looked after by people who genuinely care — St. George's Caye Resort is it. We will absolutely be back. Thank you to the entire team for giving us the trip of a lifetime.

Relaxing Getaway
This resort is amazing. We had the best service from the staff. Thank you Alex, Wilbur, Elmer, Mario, and Becky! Elmer especially stepped up the service a notch with special one of a kind mocktails. We enjoyed relaxing, swimming in the saltwater pool, and best of all fishing off the dock. Thanks to the amazing kitchen staff. The food was amazing every day and they even cooked our fish that we caught. What a wonderful experience. We can't wait to go back.

Excellent & Relaxing Trip
We stayed at the “above water” villa, beautiful view on the bay side and the water was calm. Getting to and from the airport to the resort was seamless. The folks there were fantastic, very helpful & courteous. Food was great, there was nothing we did not like to eat.
I kayaked out in front of my villa and the white manatee swam right under my kayak, came up, say about 15-20 ft in front of me for air. I stopped paddling and just watched it, did not want to spook it. Pretty cool sight. We also did the Hol Chan snorkeling, swam with the nurse sharks, fed the tarpons and stopped by Caye Caulker for lunch. Good visit, one guide to two guest ratio.
The owner, Christy happened to be there and she came out regularly to visit the guest and talk to us. Even took us on a boat ride to Goff Island. Next time we have to guess when the owners will be there. LOL.
Definitely going back, only problem is that 4N5D is not enough.

Great staff and clean resort. Only downfall is we rented the water bungalows and it looks like you could swim off the dock but it’s gross. I wish it was cleaned out to be able to enjoy it from your room. Other than that it was amazing.

One of A Kind Boutique Experience
This was our first trip to Belize, so we were not sure what to expect. Like others who have reviewed, we considered St. George's Caye Resort very unique. It is a lovely place to disconnect, and do as much or as little as you might desire. We stayed for 8 nights, and chose the low-key experience....relaxing, enjoying the sunshine, and resort offerings.
The food is simply wonderful. While it is hard to please all palates, this place does a really good job. They accommodated many guest's allergies and dislikes with ease. The food is fresh and tasty. The couple we traveled with preferred that there was more seafood served....many meals were only shrimp, and for the seafood/fish lovers, I think they expected more of a variety (to include more fish dishes) in 9 days' time. That said, we were all pleased with the food. The breakfast fry jacks are
amazing!
The coffee, tea, and juice service at the cabanas was simply divine! We all agreed that this was one of the highlights of our trip, as we were able to awake to great beverages and a nice view.
The views are beautiful. We all stayed in the over-the-water cabanas, and they are very clean and comfortable. The shower is pretty small and has limited flexibility since the showerhead is fixed, but we got used to it. The bed is comfortable and we slept quite well in our time here. Wi-Fi is available throughout the small property, except the cabana area Wi-Fi kept failing. Truth be told, we didn't really care.
We met some lovely couples and families while we were there, and had a wonderful time. The resort is advertised as "adults-only," but the staff had teenage kids there, and there was a family who came with teenagers since the resort was not full. This was not a problem at all for us, and the families we met were just great!
We made use of the pool regularly throughout our stay. It is a good size and is peaceful, but it desperately needs resurfacing. We all felt that the whole pool area needs some TLC. While there are not many guests at the resort, more chaises and chairs are needed to accommodate if the resort is full. The hammocks scattered throughout the resort are very nice!
We did not realize that Belize does not have traditional sandy beaches. Walkout access to the Caribbean Sea water is limited, with sea grass and other algae all on both sides of the island. It is not inviting to simply walk into the water. Jumping in from the piers on either side is an option, but the ladders to climb back to the platforms are covered in slippery algae. We felt this was a real turn-off. When we went on an excursion and saw other islands, we realized that Belize does not really have white sandy beaches, but rather sea walls.
The eastern facing Belizean islands are overcome with Sargassum algae, and while this is not something the resort can control, let me tell you....it is bad, bad, bad. The Sargassum emits a strong sulfur smell, and it permeates everything - your hair, your clothes, and your nose. We walked the island in both directions for exercise (not far because it is small), and the Sargassum is extremely unpleasant and downright nasty, so we felt it was important to include in our review. Guests should be aware that the Sargassum is pervasive.
We like to sail, and were enticed in the resort offerings by the availability of kayaks, Hobie cats and paddle boards. We made use of all, and enjoyed the exercise and the views. However, there is only one Hobie cat that is able to be used. The larger one has apparently been "out of service" for years. We were disappointed that this was the case. For liability reasons, you cannot use the sailboat without a resort captain/guide, which we can certainly understand. However, we would have preferred to be able to take it out since my husband is a trained sailor. We ended up sailing only once because the resort required advanced notice (1 day before), and then deferred us when they did not have a captain available, so we waited a day and half. We tried to sail again, but were never given a time even after we asked, so we did not pursue it further. It just did not seem worth it. We really felt like the sailing offering was sub-par. The kayaks and paddle boards were wonderful, but do not come here thinking you will be able to sail as you like.
Be aware that when you check out, the "Reference for Gratuity" at the bottom of your statement offers calculations for gratuity on the package cost/ENTIRE bill - including your accommodations price itself. We were all very surprised that the resort is suggesting gratuity for the baseline package. We had already paid for the vacation, and do not believe that tipping on that dollar amount is reasonable. While we realize that the staff works very hard, their employer should be paying a living wage rather than attempting to recover this via suggesting gratuity on the baseline cost of the vacation. We tipped individually for good service throughout the week, and then left a final tip on our incidentals, boat transportation, and excursion. Since the resort operates on the US Dollar, there is built-margin since the dollar is twice the Belizean currency.
All-in-all, we enjoyed our time at St. George' Caye Resort. We had never experienced a small, camp-like and intimate atmosphere such as this. We were able to relax, refresh and disconnect.
