A functional but charmless hotel with a splendid summer pool

It is a large hotel, located somewhat away from the center, so it is convenient (if not essential) to have a car to get there. On the other hand, it has free parking in front of the same hotel, it is very comfortable to enter and exit, although when you arrive the first time it is a little disconcerting since there is a barrier and nowhere indicates that it is the hotel parking... You have to take a ticket and pass as if it were a public parking lot, and then at the reception you get your ticket stamped every time so you can leave without having to pay.
The hotel is in a tall and large building, with a "Soviet" style aesthetic, without any charm, despite being quite well. The same was true of the room, very large, functional, had everything you need, was on an elevated floor with views... but without any charm!
The hotel was half empty, not to say almost empty completely, which was also strange. The staff was very good but with little initiative. For example when we arrived we asked about the pool, they indicated us where it was but when we went down to go for a bath they told us that it was already closed because it was closed for maintenance at 6 pm... in the middle of August! Still the best thing about the hotel, at least in summer, is certainly the pool (that's why we chose it, since it was very hot at noon) where there were also few people and an unattractive environment, although the huge and very nice pool...
The breakfast was fine, just... the second day in the room was just us and another couple at a table and they made us breakfast a la carte because they hadn't even put the buffet. I guess because there weren't enough customers... The overall Impression was that the hotel was running on half-gas or as if it was closing soon, or perhaps not, but a hotel of this size with so few guests gave a slightly sad feeling and a somewhat decadent image.
In short, good stay to visit Plovdiv, if you have car or means of transport, but without any charm.

Great hotel!

A huge, bright and extremely clean room, with everything you need - a comfortable bed with clean linen, sofa with table, chairs, armchairs, TV, minibar, tea and coffee set, extension cord in the room. Strong WiFi signal. Clean and warm bathroom, with lots of towels and a nice selection of soap and shampoo. The staff is professional. The air conditioner works without any noise. The room has a great view of the hills and the monument to Alyosha. There was not a single stain on the carpet. Only positive impressions.

Nice place

The hotel is nice and big but the rooms have no balconies and only one window is semi- opening. The bathroom was clean but some bad smell was coming from it. The beds were huge and clean but a little bit harder than expected. The pool was clean and pleasant but no food was served. The restaurant was under reconstruction.

Dirty bathroom bad service

I visited the hotel for a one night stay during business trip. The main lighting in the room didn't work. The room's bathroom hasn't been cleaned after previous use and the shower was left as it was used by the previous guest - used soap and shower gel, toothpaste on the cup, hairs... When I called the reception a very unplaisant lady told me that she was going to send someone to clean and she immediately hung up the phone - no excuses, no option to change the room. A cleaning lady came with just one cloth and a spray and did what she could to clean a bit... the prices at the restaurant are very high for what you get - I ordered a pork steak with mushrooms and rice for 23 BGN which tasted like rubber....

Nice place!

Hotel St. Petersburg is a very good place for conferences. Very good location, close to the city center. The rooms are very clean, the whole hotel is well maintained. The food is delicious and the staff is professional and very friendly.
