The hotel we needed
We had 4 nights at the Merit Starlit - on arrival we were warmly met with an offer of a drink (We took the home made iced tea which was delicious!) a representative of the hotel quickly advised us that our room was ready, 2 hours early, and would show us around.
The room was beautifully designed with every detail thought through. The slippers in the room were comfortable (not flimsy thin ones) and the nothing felt sub-standard. The rest of the hotel was equally luxurious, again with attention to detail and personalisation everywhere you looked. The food and drink in the main restaurant was perfect, the breakfast was fresh and a varied menu and the servers came round with detox shots every day.
We booked a meal in the attached restaurant (Zaytoun) which was even better than expected. The food was outstanding and our main server wouldn’t have been more helpful with the right amount of attentiveness. We both felt the price of the food was more than justified!
We took advantage of booking beds on Hawaii Island, where the hotel has a private area. This took away any stress, we were able to relax by the sea all day with a free boat ride there and back.
One night we attended the rooftop bar for the live singer, there was a great atmosphere and the views were incredible - particularly overlooking the old town.
The Gym was the only thing that felt disappointing due to its size, but otherwise it was very clean and the equipment was good.
Location wise, this couldn’t have been more perfect! We spent most evenings wandering the streets of the old town finding different places to eat and drink. On the Friday evening, a big football game was shown in the main square on a large projector and we were easily able to walk back to the hotel to use the toilet or freshen up rather than attempt the public toilet which you needed to pay for.
If you intended to stay in Budva, I couldn’t recommend anything better than staying at the Merit - for a combination of its ideal location and the quality of services provided by the hotel and the staff.
My only criticism was for Budva in general - we were surprised at the lack of customer service in restaurants, bars and most shops. You are not offered another drink, you are not offered desserts and you are not ‘checked-on’ during meals. If you’re in a bar, rather than collecting your empties and offering you another drink, you are left sitting there with the bill already placed down when your drinks arrived and in order to get anything else you needed to be rather forceful in your approach. Unfortunately, we found the less polite we were, the more response we had which is really not how we like to behave! There were a couple of shops in the old town where the staff were more friendly and you were greeted with a smile, but otherwise, the service was poor. This did however highlight how much better the staff and experience of the Merit actually was.

Budva super nice!
Super nice central hotel! Very good service and it’s a must the little beach were they bring you with a little boat every day (30 minutes to wait).

Amazing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Our stay at Merit Starlit was nothing short of exceptional. I can honestly say I have rarely experienced such genuine warmth, professionalism, and outstanding service from every member of the staff.
The rooms were beautiful, spacious, and luxurious, and the rooftop bar was absolutely stunning, offering breathtaking views over Budva. It quickly became one of our favorite places to relax.
I would especially like to recognize Musa, who managed the new private beach. He truly went the extra mile every single day to make sure everything was perfect for us. His kindness, attention to detail, and genuine care made our experience truly unforgettable. We cannot recommend him highly enough.
A special thank you also goes to Ilyada, who was simply amazing. She went above and beyond by helping us arrange transfers, boat trips, restaurant reservations, and anything else we needed. One evening I became ill, and she showed incredible compassion by doing everything she could to help me and checking in to make sure I was feeling better. She is a truly wonderful person, and we are so grateful for her kindness. ❤️
Overall, our experience at Merit Starlit exceeded all expectations. My husband and I fell in love with Montenegro, and when we return, there is no doubt that we will stay at Merit Starlit again.

Merit hospitality

Amazing hotel, lovely staff.
First of all, for those considering staying at this hotel and researching it, I'll say it's a perfect hotel... From the moment you arrive, you are welcomed and treated like princes and princesses. Mr. Orçun is so attentive and kind when welcoming guests, and Ms. Güngör and Ms. Selva are equally attentive and polite in the breakfast room; it makes you feel very special. They show a warm welcome and attentive service with every order. I wholeheartedly recommend staying at this hotel and experiencing this.
